After months of speculation it seems that Verizon is finally joining AT&T into the tiered data plans for mobile phones. The full details have not been released yet but you would expect it to be exactly the same as AT&T. This means that the highest data package is 2 gigs for 25 dollars. that there will be some smaller packages underneath that. If they follow AT&T to the letter than that will also mean that if you go over your 2 gigs the next GB of data will cost you 10 bucks.
After looking at the from the AT&T side I realized that it really wasn’t that big a deal. All it really does is make you a bit more diligent about connecting to a wireless network, when available. We will keep an eye out for the official announcement. But if my local news was reporting it then it is probably imminent.
Let us know if this will affect your data usage on your mobile phone.
