Over the last few years and especially the last few months , the biggest rumor has been about Verizon getting the iPhone. Well finally we can put these rumors to bed. It doesn’t look like Verizon is getting the iPhone any time soon. An article on InformationWeek.com is killing the dreams of so many people.According to the article, Verizon Communications CEO Ivan Seidenberg implied there would not be an iPhone on Verizon’s network anytime in the near future. The article also state tat Seidenberg pretty much ruled out a CDMA version of the iPhone at all. In quoting the Associated Press InformationWeek had this statement
“Seidenberg said nothing about an iPhone for the company’s current network, but said he hopes Apple Inc. will come around and allow Verizon to sell the phone for a new network it’s building.”
That new network is the LTE network. Which Verizon is rumored to be rolling out at the end of the year. So chances are Apple has not begun building LTE iPhones yet. I know a lot of CEOs are coy with their statements and hide things but, this seems pretty clear. So let’s all stop with the iPhone to Verizon pipe dream. At least for now. And just in case you are still thinking well maybe… here are two more quotes from the Associated Press, to silence that
“We don’t feel like we have an iPhone deficit. We would love to carry it when we get there, but we have to earn it,” Seidenberg said.
“I think 4G will accelerate the process, and any other decisions Apple makes would be fine with us,” he added. “Hopefully, at some point Apple will get with the program.”
And that should be that.
