To make your life easier there is a nifty little trick that you can do to figure where your data usage stands. Paul Thurrott has been keeping a close watch on his data trends, since getting a Windows Phone 7 device. You can see his reports on his site. While talking about it he received a tip that iPhone users can dial *data# (*3282#) to get a free text message with a small data usage report. He decided to test it with his Samsung Focus and it worked just the same. I tried it out too. And before you get stuck like I did, you call the number then you will receive a text. You do not text *data#.
After you place the call you should get a a text messages that shows you
- Next Bill Cycle ( The date that it starts )
- Data (MB) (How much data you used of your monthly plan )
- Messaging ( Now many text messages you sent of your monthly plan )
So if you find yourself wondering how much data you have used or, how far until your next billing cycle, give *data# a shot.
