Energizer XPAL 18000 Universal Portable Battery

As you will know, if you have followed my posts, I have been on a quest to find the very best bang for the buck (and ounce!) in portable battery power. Rod and I started looking at units in the $60-$100 range that provide 2500, 3400, 6000 and even 8000 mAh of power. This all seems great, but thanks to a fabulous tip from a colleague in San Antonio, I think I have found the ultimate battery out there, at least for now! How about 18000 mAh’s of battery?

Energizer XPAL 18000 Portable Battery Pack and Charger

Energizer XP18000 Universal 18000 mAh Portable Battery Back and Charger can charge and powers any laptop anytime, even with a dead battery. It has 18000 mAh power capacity using lithium polymer battery cell technology. The best deal is, it can charge up to 3 devices at the same time. It is ideal for powering and charging iPod, MP3 players, cell phones, bluetooth, portable DVD players, portable gaming systems, camcorders, laptops and, netbooks. In addition to all this, the package includes ALL the necessary cables, tips and connectors you could possibly need already included. Find that is not true? Well, they also offer 2 free tips per year for as long as you own the product, if you will just register. That way, as your object change, you can get the tips for them as needed. This unit has a standard 5V USB port, as well as a 16-20 Volt port for notebooks and another 12-16 Volt port for netbooks. All three can theoretically be used simultaneously. Also included is a power brick that you can use to recharge the Energizer battery at the same time you power your device. This would make a very nice backup battery for the desk, if it were not so portable. The unit is 4.5 x 7 x 1.6 inches and weighs 15.6 ounces, or just slightly less than a pound.

I doubt it would work with my Dell e6500, which is notorious for power sensitivity, but I am not really worried about that unit. if it could do the job with my iPad, my Droid, my Levovo S10-3t, I would be more than happy! The downside to this device is the cost. It retails for $179.99, which isn’t that bad is you consider how much power it supplies, as well as the included cables. However, I found it for a better price of $142.77 (including free shipping) on Amazon.com. If you make the plunge, let us know how this works. I am going to be saving up my pennies for this one!
