It was back in December the Brent wrote his initial articles about the MovieWedge. Â After quickly running out of stock the MovieWedge is now for sale again. Â I was unable to get the MovieWedge as it was out of stock before I ordered. Â I ordered 3 after seeing Amazon had it back in stock.
Here is what Brent said about the Movie Wedge originally. Â It only costs $9.99 at Amazon.
This is one of the reasons we have smartphones with big screens, right? But what a bother to have to sit there and hold the angle just right, or keep it from sliding off the tray table if you lay it flat. So, probably just like you, I have searched for a workable method of solving this. Earlier this year, I purchased a contraption made out of plastic that you could fold into a stand for your Smartphone, Touch, etc. It held the screen at a reasonable angle, and as it had a rubberized feel, it didn’t slip too much. However, it had to be folded into position and then unfolded to be put away and was a bit of a bother. I would love to tell you what it was called, but I was on a flight into Orange County, CA that was a bit rough and the stand dumped my phone in my lap and went sliding off under seats and I decided to take the $19 loss rather than try and get down on my hands and knees to find it, after those in the seats around me couldn’t. Recently I came across a reference to something called the MovieWedge™. It had rave reviews and at $10 I decided to give it a try. It is a deceptively simple idea that is quite brilliant! A 2.5 oz. microsuede plush bag, filled with light foam beads, it nicely cradles your device at a great angle for viewing.
The MovieWedgeâ„¢ is about 4″ x 3.5″ x 3″ (L x W x H) when in use and can squish down to a ball about 2.5″ in diameter. It is quick to use and quick to put away and has become a part of my standard travel kit. On a personal note, one of the things that still gave me grief was having to reach out on a regular basis and touch the screen to keep it from blanking. I recently solved this with a small application for the Android platform called Screebl Lite. Screebl allows you to manage the power saving features of your Android device based on orientation. For both Landscape and for Portrait mode, you can set the specific angles at which Screebl will enable or disable screen blanking. In everyday use, this has allowed me to also set my screen blank interval to 15 seconds, unless I am using my phone in my usual orientation where it doesn’t blank at all. The net difference is that my battery lasts longer. It I set the phone down flat, the screen blanks off to save battery. I highly recommend it.
