I am really enjoying the battle between AT&T and Verizon. First the whole Map Gate fiasco. Now we have the price wars. It seems for now that we the consumer are benefiting from it. But we will also have to wait and see how long it lasts. Verizon last week lowered their unlimited plan to 69.99 per month. This is down from 99 dollars. Now AT&T has dropped their unlimited plan to 69.99 as well. The only thing that I see better for us is for them to battle out the data plans but so far it does not look like that is going to happen. Especially since AT&T’s network is struggling with the iPhone data traffic. Either way take a look at the new plans and maybe you can benefit from one of them.

I get the battle between AT&T and Verizon but the price war for unlimited plans started with TMobile. I see where your coming from but you cannot discount TMobile here.

I thought about the fact that T-Mobile lowered their prices first. No Doubt about that. But I don’t think that Verizon or AT&T lowered their prices because of it. T-Mobile has always had lower prices than the other two. And they never competed in a price war. AT&T probably wouldn’t have lowered their prices without Verizon. In fact, T-Mobile’s unlimited plan is 10 dollars cheaper than AT&T’s and Verizon’s. I think Verizon, although they have the DROID now, still hasn’t recovered a lot of the customers they lost to the exclusive contract AT&T has with the iPhone. Plus I think AT&T really hates Verizon after they got aired out with the maps.

Well, if you believe the press, this seems more to be about Verizon and AT&T capturing more folks in their ‘web’ now, in anticipation of releasing the LTE 4G(ish) plan at a higher cost later this year. Of course, we all know that it is not yet going to be true 4G because that hasn’t even been defined yet, but LTE is where is is going to first appear. Yes, they are lowering their prices somewhat now, but they fully intend to stick it too us hard later. Do you disagree? :-)
