Post image for HTC Titan Release Date Set For November 20th

The countdown officially begins for the best Windows Phone 7 device’s release date and if you have not listened to the SMRPodcast then I will simply inform you that we are speaking of the HTC Titan. This phone is the 4.7-inch beast that I fully intend on owning on day one. While we are not quite sure why it did not release on November 6 however all is forgiven. The HTC Titan will sell for 199.99 on contract and will get you a 1.5GHz processor and a WVGA Super LCD screen.

You can see the announcement on AT&T’s website.

HTC Titan

Both Rod and Chris attended the Windows Phone event in New York on Monday and Tuesday and I think the phone that they both liked the most was the 4.7-inch HTC Titan.

According to the @HTCUSA Twitter account, AT&T is set to launch the HTC Titan on Nov. 20th for $199.99.  Rod just picked up the iPhone 4s, so, he may hold off on the Titan, but, I’d be willing to bet that Chris is already making plans to camp out at the AT&T store just so that he can be first in line to pick his up…

Tango Video Chat App Available In The Windows Phone Marketplace

Post image for Tango Video Chat App Available In The Windows Phone Marketplace

Although we all knew that Skype is coming to Windows Phone 7, it is very cool to have another option for cross platform Video calling moreover an app available today. Tango’s Video chat app will obviously work best on the Samsung Focus S or Flash, the HTC Radar, or the HTC Titan because they all have front facing cameras however, older phones will work with the rear camera. One other feature to note is that Tango indeed works over 2G, 3G and 4G mobile towers.

WeatherLive Is A Great Weather App For Windows Phone 7

Post image for WeatherLive Is A Great Weather App For Windows Phone 7

There are quite a few weather apps on Windows Phone 7 however; WeatherLive is quickly becoming my favorite. WeatherLive is loaded with tons of features such as Toast notifications, Bing Images for your background, weather for Multiple Locations, 6-day forecast with daily details and trends, and more. My favorite feature is how WeatherLive uses live tiles. Not only does it display the current weather, but also the tile will flip over and show you an Icon representing the current conditions for example, and image of clouds with rain or a sun.

Post image for Nokia Announces The Lumia 800 Windows Phone 7 Device

After many months of anticipation, Nokia has finally announced their flagship Windows Phone 7 device the Nokia Lumia. The specs on this device are not that bad but I have to say I am disappointed with the lack of a front facing camera.

  • 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 CPU
  • 12.1mm (0.48-inch) thick polycarbonate plastic
  • A curved ClearBlack AMOLED (800 x 480) display
  • 8-megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss optics-enhanced lens
  • 16GB of internal storage
  • 512MB of RAM
  • HSDPA download speeds of up to 14.4Mbps

The Lumia 800 is listed at €420 ($585.00) and is up for preorder for parts of Europe and will be available in Pink, Black and Blue. Despite my slight disappointment in the lack of a front camera and having to wait in the US no one can deny that the device is beautiful.

Windows Phone vs Android

I’m a two-year Android veteran, having become a fan of the operating system. I recently purchased an HTC HD7 to test drive Windows Phone 7 (WP7).  I gave the phone a two-week grace period, including a week using the Mango update. I will admit this was a limited test however I had limited time as I was relocating outside of the US. For me, I found WP7 underwhelming in a few areas, and I switched back to Android. Read on to see my top five reasons why I find Android to be better than WP7.

LastPass on Windows Phone

It appears the team over at LastPass has updated the mobile client for Windows Phone. The most obvious changes to LastPass on Windows Phone are the options to edit identities on your device. This is valuable as you can now copy usernames and passwords if you need to enter credentials to setup an app on the phone. It also appears LastPass now supports fast app switching which is the multi-tasking feature of Windows Phone Mango.  Other enhancements include:
