Motorola Droid 4

It is hard to believe we are on the 4th generation of famous Motorola Droid. Today Verizon and Motorola have announced the Droid 4. The Droid is one of the best devices for users coming from a BlackBerry or any other device with a physical keyboard. Sadly it is powered by Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) but will receive an update to ICS, Android 4.0, sometime in the future.

As expected the device has Verizon 4G LTC service, 4.0 inch qHD display, 8-megapixel camera with 1080P hd video capture, and both front and rear facing camera’s for Skype calling. Verizon / Motorola / Google are highlighting the government grade encryptions support giving users yet another reason to leave the once dominate BlackBerry.

The Droid 4 will be $199 with a 2 year agreement and have and optional Laptop Dock for $300. You can start buying on Feb 10 2010.

Motorola Droid RAZR Review

Motorola Droid RAZR

OK, let’s get this out of the way right up front: This phone is so thin it could almost double for a letter-opener. I have to admit that I had my worries that I would break the device in half, but nothing could be further from the truth. This was a fun review for me because I knew that I would be purchasing one of the two phones review by SMR this week. In the end, I did not chose this phone, but had it been the only choice, I believe I would have been very happy indeed with the results. The Motorola Droid RAZR is an amazing piece of technology and it speaks very well for the future of Motorola in the Android ecosystem.

Motorola Droid Razr

When the Motorola Droid Razr was announced last month, we learned the specs for this amazing phone, a pre-order date, but were not given a hard release date. I don’t know about you, but I think that there are few things worse than pre-ordering something without knowing when I’m going to actually have it in my hands.

Is the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Really a Verizon Exclusive?

Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2

Several days ago Verizon announced that they would be carrying the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, one of the hottest upcoming Android devices, and the first to be released with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.  Up until that point, speculation ran rampant about where the Nexus would land. In the absence of any solid answer from other US carriers, hope still remained, since the device had already been announced for carriers in other countries. Last night, however, the hopes of many were dashed, as Verizon’s sign up page contained the underlying banner ad, stating Verizon exclusivity.

Pantech Breakout

The Pantech Breakout, 4G LTE Android 2.3 power smartphone, will be available for order at Verizon Retail and Online stores. The Breakout will have a 1 GHz processor, 4 Inch display with 480×900 resolution, 5 megapixel rear camera, and VGA front Camera all for $99 after $50 mail-in-rebate with a 2 year agreement. If you wait 30 days that will likely be the price of the Bionic. It is good to see more devices in a lower price point.

The Motorola Droid Bionic is a Fantastic Android Phone

Motorola Droid Bionic

At 9:01 am Thursday morning, I pushed into my local Verizon Wireless store, third in line, and stepped up to the counter to purchase the Motorola Droid Bionic that I had called and reserved the day before. It is always nice when a plan comes together. I was onsite with a customer all day on Wednesday, and Rod called me at 4:30 pm and put the fear into me, supposing that I was already too late to get my unit without having to order online. I called my guy at Verizon and he assured me that he had one tucked under the counter for me, as long as I was there at 9 am. Let me just say I got my device over 24 hrs before Rod. So, the question everyone is asking me today is this: “Was it worth the wait?”

Post image for Verizon Announces The Blackberry Torch 9850 Available online Sept 8th

Verizon, who has always been a strong supporter of BlackBerry phones, has announced today that they will be carrying the BlackBerry Torch 9850. This new Device from RIM will be running the latest operating system Blackberry 7. On the last Simple Mobile Review Podcast we started wondering if some of these BlackBerry 7 phones would be able to upgrade to the new QNX OS. It is tough to tell anyone to get a BlackBerry today, however the phone is nice enough that perhaps some will take the leap (aks RIMarkableRobb) . For our Blackberry readers the new device is available online at www.verizonwireless.com on Sept. 8 and in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores on Sept. 15. [click to continue…]

4G LTE

If you are wondering how the Verizon 4G LTE rollout is going they say the network is now available to more than have the US Population, which is impressive. Now I know this means dense coverage in large metro areas, not the wide spread rural coverage we currently enjoy on the legacy network, however it is still impressive. 117 Cities over an 8 months, personally I am happy to see my home city with the blazing 4G LTE speeds
