LogMeIn Brings New Remote Access Capabilities to Android Tablets
LogMeIn is an awesome service that covers a number of remote access needs. I personally use it to do remote “Help Desk” support for parents, grand-parents, and my kids who live in other states. LogMeIn Ignition is a stand-alone app that accomplishes the same purposes as LogMeIn, without requiring the use of a web browser. Over the last year or so, LogMeIn has released a number of LogMeIn Ignition clients that run on popular mobile devices. I use it on the iPad to remote into the Hyper-V Server in my home office, to manage my personal VM (Virtual Machine) images. Today, LogMeIn unveiled a new version of its popular remote access app, LogMeIn Ignition, that is optimized for Android tablets. Available as a free update to existing LogMeIn Ignition for Android users, the app is designed to take advantage of popular new Android tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and introduces a variety of new features for tablet and/or Android smartphone users. These include capabilities like Wake-On-LAN, remote sound, multi-monitor support, and more. Once purchased and downloaded from either the Android Market or the Verizon V CAST app store1, a single instance of the app can be used across any of a user’s supported Android devices (i.e. multiple smartphones and tablets). I look forward to testing this out on my recently rooted NOOKColor. I will let you know how this goes. [click to continue…]
