Since Verizon preview the 2011 LTE roadmap for 2011 many have been waiting for them to release a 4G LTE MiFi type device. The Samsung SCH-LC11 was my preferred device and if the Engadget rumor is correct it will release on March 31st.
May have been waiting on updating their mobile broadband devices in hopes of getting one of Verizon’s new LTE devices. The Pantech UML 290 USB modem has been available for sometime on Verizon however the hotspot seems like the best device since you can share with you iPad, iPod Touch, Xoom, or BlackBerry Playbook.
Pricing is still unknown lets hope the data the blinding fast LTE speed will make this worth the wait.

Rod and Chris both have dabbled around with the MiFi devices available from several carriers, which has an integrated Cellular Modem and gives you the ability to share your data connection with up to 5 devices or users. I have resisted doing this because I already have a USB Modem through Verizon, and I like being able to plug it into whatever machine I am currently using away from WiFi at the moment. However, I really missed being able to share that connection with multiple devices. After a little research, I settled on the PHS300 4G/3G Battery-Powered Router from Cradlepoint. It gives me the ability to use my USB Modem alone, or able plugged into a ‘station’ that allows it to become a WiFi Access Point with full security for up to 16 devices. Because it is battery powered, it makes it even easier to use. I quickly learned that the battery will net me 2-3 hours of usage, so I purchased a second to fill that gap. Altogether, I have sunk about $200 into this solution and I have been very happy. Until today. Check out the special that Cradlepoint is offering to all you who have waited for the opportunity to purchase at a spectacular price! [click to continue…]

I have been using Verizon’s Broadband cards as a part of my work life for about 4 years now. Over this time I have used PC Cards, Express Cards, and now a USB modem. I am lucky as I have good friends and one that loaned me his MiFi to use for the last 2 months. [click to continue…]
