Garageband

GarageBand is an app the lets you explore your creative side of recording and editing music or the spoken word. You can edit a short family vacation video on you iPhone with iMovie, and then record a voice over with GarageBand for the iPhone. In GargeBand for iOS you can easily product a quality recording with the power of a desktop app in the palm of you hand. Don’t think complex audio editing, rather think simple easy to use with advance features you and perform with the swipe of a finger. If you already own GarageBand on the iPad then just re-download on your iPhone but for new users the cost is only $4.99. The app is supported on the iPhone 3GS and above and the iPod 3rd generation and higher.

How to Add Text Shortcuts in iOS 5

iOS 5 Keyboard Shortcut

Text Shortcuts is a new feature of iOS 5 that can save you time typing repetitive phrases, words with accent marks, or just correcting spelling. Think of Text Shortcuts as a macro that turns AML into “all my love”, AYTMTB into “and you’re telling me that because”, FTW into “for the win”, or PRW into “parents are watching”. This is not new technology, as it exists today in an iOS app called TextExpander and on BlackBerry OS with Auto Text. This is, however, a nice integrated solution for iOS devices. Let me show you how to do add text shortcuts for yourself in iOS 5.

iOS 5 Lockscreen Camera Button

One of the features in iOS 5, borrowed from Windows Phone, is the ability to take pictures from the lock screen. If you are like many other users you are trying to figure out where is the setting to display the camera button on the lock screen. Stop looking, there is no setting. This is not restricted to iPhone 4S users either.

Silent Film Director

There is nothing like finding a clever app that can bring out the creative side in your friends and family and Silent Film Director is just that.  I can recall watching the Three Stooges, The little Rascals, and a host of other classic black and white films. Rather than sharing the classic video of your kids with friends you can use Silent Film Director to make vintage videos.

It is likely you won’t be sitting at home watching the Round 3 of the NFL Draft, however you can download the app to your Android or iOS device. I used the app last night to watch some of the draft and this morning to catchup on what I missed. The NFL 11 App has a free and paid version for iOS and Android.

NFL Mobile App

The Washington Redskins have already collected my money on the 2011 NFL season, assuming there is a 2011 season the draft may actually be important. At 8PM last night the first round of the draft started and the Redskins picked Ryan Kerrigan DE. If you want to keep up-to-date on the draft you could tune into ESPN or download the NFL Mobile app and get live draft coverage. The lithe version is free while the premium version is $1.99. The premium version includes live coverage so if you plan to be out tonight and not in front of a TV this will come in handy, then again what NFL fan is not glued to the TV during draft time. Order a pizza and crack open a cold one.
