For 1 Penny you can get the Samsung Focus (AT&T), HTC Trophy (Verizon), HTC Surround (AT&T), HTC Arrive (Sprint), LG Quantum (AT&T) or HTC HD7 (AT&T). Essentially the hottest Windows Phone devices are currently available on Amazon Wireless for 1¢ in preparation for the new handsets coming to market this fall. You don’t have to be a bargain shopper to realize that 1¢ for a smartphone is a great deal. Before I ever buy a phone, I always check Amazon to see what I can get for 1 penny. The beautiful thing is this sale is not limited to Windows Phone devices. Of course, this does require that you extend your contract for another 2 years, but that is almost always the case, unless you want to pay full retail, right?

If you own the HTC Thunderbolt it is likely and have tried a video call with Skype it is likely you could only use the rear facing camera. We have heard from many readers that they cannot get the Thunderbolt to switch to the front facing camera. We have confirmed this behavior and all we know is Thunderbolt Users may have to wait on Gingerbread for a fix. Hopefully that is not the case.
While it was announced along with the HTC Thunderbolt, wireless inductive charging accessories just never arrived at Verizon. While the Wireless Charging Pad has been available at $69.99 for some time, we have not seen the required smartphone backs until now. Verizon has finally released Wireless Charging Back Covers for the HTC Thunderbolt, the Droid Charge, the LG Revolution and the Droid Incredible 2 as well. The price of the Wireless Charging Back Cover ranges between $29.99 and $39.99 depending on the phone. I will note that the covers for the Thunderbolt and the Charge seem to have disappeared from the Verizon site again, so I will assume they are in very short supply.

It appears the HTC Thunderbolt, Verizon’s first LTE smartphone, is experiencing 4G dropouts in solid coverage areas. The issue impacts some not all users as I have been connected to a HTC Thunderbolt hotspot for 7 straight hours today without a single issue.
Verizon has acknowledged the problem and said a firmware update is coming soon. Until then read the threads as many users are explaining how they are trying to fix the problem until and official update is available.

OK, we are a week into the HTC Thunderbolt from Verizon Wireless, the first Verizon 4G LTE smartphone and the speed is glorious indeed! This morning a colleague, Tim, pinged to say that he had the device and loved it, but that he was struggling to get more than 4-5 hours of battery, even after conducting a bunch of other battery saving measures. This is probably the most common complaint I have heard about this phone. For me personally, I regularly get 9+ hours of use on the phone and I run it 4G all the time. Let me share with you a couple of things that I regularly do to improve the battery life of any Android phone.

We started off the day with the news that Best Buy stores are going to allow you to pre-order the HTC Thunderbolt Android phone, starting today, when you plunk down $50 to hold the order. Announced at CES 2011, the Thunderbolt is Verizon’s first LTE smartphone featuring Android 2.2, with a 4.3-inch display, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8MP rear facing camera, and a front facing camera as well. Even though the launch date is still up in the air, Best Buy is going ahead with pre-orders. Of course, all the rumors are swirling around a potential release date of Feb. 14, which sort of makes sense with all the noise going on and the fact that accessories are starting to show up.
