A new tool that can be installed on developer unlocked Windows Phone devices uses the camera button to take screen shots. While Microsoft doesn’t see Screen Capturing as a top feature every single Windows Phone Blogger does moreover, bloggers help get the word out about Windows Phone therefore it should be a top feature and thank goodness Jerry Jiang over at XDA Developers agrees with me.

I have read a lot of stories about how developing for Windows Phone 7 is easy and well laid out. And the rate at which Chicks N Vixens, an angry birds type game for Windows Phone 7, has been developed leads me to believe that is the case. The latest video here shows off the maturity of Chicks N Vixens which started out just a few months ago.The video shows off some of the new features coming in the final release.

No, I didn’t misspell hoopla. Hooopla is a new Android app for hyper-local activities. Of course, this will have to catch on with folks, because it will live and die by how relevant and up to date events are, but given the current attitude of frenzy, I can see this one probably making it.
What’s fun to do today? Flag Football? Poker tournament? Happy Hour? Live Music? House Party?
Introducing Hooopla, an app that informs you of all the fun events and activities currently going on around you!!
Basketball Games, Softball Games, Potlucks, Common Interest Meetings, Snowball Fights, you name it! If its local and currently going on, you’ll know about using Hooopla!!
You can also add your own events and activities and promote through Hooopla to have others join in on the fun by simply utilizing your event/activity’s fun feed.
Hooopla
Hyperlocal. Fun. Now

Say what you will about the British, but they know how to do Television. Some of the most spectacular original series you will ever find come from the BBC. But not many of us have the opportunity to spend a lot of time there and I for one am not very good at waiting for stuff to trickle across the pond. Over the years I have played around with using special proxies so that I could spoof an Internet address (and geographical restrictions) and be able to use the BBC iPlayer, but that need has now disappeared!
The BBC has now released an iPlayer app for iOS and Android. Think of it like Hulu, but for the UK. With iPlayer you can catch up on the shows you love, listen to the radio, and read up on what’s new in the world of soap operas, but until now there hasn’t been a neat and tidy way to do it on the Apple iPad or on your Android device. Today that changes, for the iPad at least [iTunes link]. [click to continue…]
Last.fm announced they were changing their pricing model for mobile apps and home entertainment devices. Windows Phone 7 and Xbox 360 users need not worry, your price is still free. Last.fm on mobile apps will become ad-free and subscriber only feature. After looking at their offerings Last.fm decided that it no longer made sense to run adds on mobile devices.

I love the fall. Well better yet I love this current fall even more. Football is starting up the air is about to change, and there are more pictures and information coming out about Windows Phone 7. A picture tweeted out by JustinAngel, appears to show a bunch of Marketplace Applications coming to Windows Phone 7. Among the applications listed were YouTube and Yelp. According to engadget.com they can not access this screen from their test phone.

Microsoft is doing a lot of work to get apps for Windows Phone 7. The great thing about it is they are doing a lot of smart things to get them. Instead of just having cheesy apps being created they are taking a real effort to get applications that users will like. Recent there was a contest were the winners app idea would be developed by Microsoft. Now there is a new website that brings people who use apps together with those that create them.

Whether you are still running the old Android 2.0.1 or have upgraded to 2.1 on your Motorola Droid, you will have found that you are still stuck with just 3 home screens for your icons, unless you are using a replacement Launcher or Home replacement. There are many out there, like Home ++, or Panda Home, etc. I tried to use them all, but gave up because all of them took a performance toll and made my device less stable. I can put up with an occasional Force Close, but when it starts happening dozens of time a day, that’s it for me. So I have just been trying to cram everything into 3 screens. It helps to use folders, but unfortunately every time I messed around with another Launcher, it never included the folders, and I had to start over. If you want to see how I solved that issue, look at my post on FolderOrganizer (Manage Android Applications with ForlderOrganizer). [click to continue…]
As most of you should have read, Chris came up against the Exchange support wall today, on his new Nexus One device. And while the Exchange support is apparently slightly better on the Motorola Droid, it’s not that noticeable. For that reason, I recommend to anyone who needs to have Exchange support on Android that they move directly to TouchDown, an application built specifically for this purpose. Because Chris is such a good friend, I figured that I should share a few secrets with him about TouchDown, and Rod replied back immediately: “Don’t tell us, tell the blog!†So, let me share with you a few secrets about TouchDown. If you’re on AT&T or T-Mobile with and Android phone you will be happy to hear your getting a VoIP app. Vonage is bringing VoIP to your device
You will be able to make VoIP calls over WiFi or 3G. The deal Verizon made with Skype had many Android users jealous now you have an option. I use to have Vonage but today Skype replaces my need for Vonage but there are still many customers to enjoy the call quality of Vonage. [click to continue…]
