Craigslist Notification
This post originated on Droid Addicted

There’s a coding house out there called “Notification” that makes a great little app simply titled Craigslist Notification.   It’s a great app that brings much needed functionality to a very ugly and borderline useless website called … wait for it … www.craigslist.org.

Craigslist is where old computer hardware and couches go to die, or live a new life as front porch furniture or boat anchor. Where people find other people for relationships, hook-ups, or just platonic friendship. It’s a place where you can find a new barber, a like-new blender, or a very old pickup truck that you can use to haul that giant peach pie to your nephew’s bar mitzvah. Craigslist Notification has it all, and now there is a way to See all that Craigslist has to offer from anywhere with your Android Phone.

Post image for Sprint Announces the HTC EVO 3D

I am not sure what one needs a 3D Android Smartphone for so I will leave that to our readers to help me understand. Nonetheless, Sprint has announced the HTC EVO 3D with a 4.3 inch glass display that apparently does not require 3D glasses.

  • Dual 5 megapixel cameras with flash
  • Front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera

Motorola Xoom

Amazon now has the Wi-Fi Motorola Xoom for pre-order. The Motorola Xoom is the first Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) Table. Several people I know with the Xoom love the tablet. Everyone is starting to take pre-orders and I am a huge fan of Amazon. All I need now is Verizon to make the 4G MiFi available.  Below are the specs of the Motorola Xoom.

Android

Android and iOS both have built-in kill switches to deal with the potential of malicious applications. Google executing excellent judgment to protect end users by using the kill switch to remotely remove the software from infected devices. If  you don’t recall 21 titles on the Android market were revealed to be malware. Those 21 titles had over 50,000 downloads targeting earlier versions of Android (Pre Android 2.2.2). Hardware manufactures are part to blame for the number of vulnerable users due to slow updating of handsets. Hopefully Google will do a better job in the future approving applications.

Post image for Dell Venue Android Phone Available for Pre-Order Unlocked for $499

While not the most exciting news in the world, you can now pre-order this device for a February 18 availability. The Dell Venue sports Android 2.2 and a 4.1-in. WVGA AMOLED screen. The device is completely unlocked, and you can choose to use it on either AT&T or T-Mobile 3G networks without any fuss at all. Hear that Canada? It is using Dell’s Stage UI interface, but also has an 8 Megapixel camera and a very nice design.

It is running a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 512 MB RAM, and 1GB of ROM, along with 16 GB of internal memory, so it will upgrade nicely to later versions of Android if they become available for it. Because it’s completely open, should be a nice phone to root, as long as it gets enough critical mass to attract a community of hackers. Check it out if you are in the market for a nice Android phone unencumbered with a carrier contract. [click to continue…]
