For those of you who missed the window of opportunity to experience the SholesMod utility, which performed all the necessary steps to ‘root’ your Motorola Droid phone, and then offered custom ROM’s that featured the best of applications for the most recent Android devices, including the Nexus One, you are in luck! The replacement application, DroidMod Updater v1.0, is now available for direct download.
- Changes from SholesMod 2.0.6 are:
- New boot anim (DroidMod vs Sholes)
- 2.1 Live Wallpapers v1.1 thanks to xeudoxus
- DMUpdater included in ROM
- Wipe data but keep apps option (idea from krazykrivda)
- Themes have been removed, just use MetaMorph, it’s 10x better.

Google Earth for Android Supported
You will have also seen the announcement of Google Earth for Android, currently available in the Marketplace only on the Nexus One. It will “just work†for users already running DroidMod on the Motorola Droid.
Under Testing
I am in the process of loading and testing this new version and will give you an update in a few days. I have a list of 5 ‘mistakes’ that I wished I had done differently with the SholesMod 2.0.5 I currently have loaded. I will let you know how it goes, along with screenshots, where possible.
