A week ago I accepted a challenge from Rod to use an Android phone instead of my beloved ATT Tilt. IT has been a week and I am struggling a bit. Not because the Nexus One is a bad phone, more so because me and Windows Phone were like a Cyborg. Just really intertwined together. There are some things that are just a matter of retraining myself and there are others that are irreplaceable. I miss satellite radio on my Phone.
I, like millions of other folks enjoy Sirius XM satellite radio. There are not very many days that go by that I am not listening to the Opie and Anthony Show on 202. Sirius XM just created an App for the iPhone and the BlackBerry. But just like a lot of other companies, they left out Windows Phone users and Android. While there is still nothing for Android, SXRADIO2 has saved Windows Phone users. SXRadio2 is in the Marketplace and is completely free. The app uses your online subscription and streams the programming over the internet. (make sure you have a good data plan) SXRadio2 has support for both Sirius and XM channels Twitter integration.
Installation is pretty simple. From our phone search the Marketplace for SXRadio2. Or from a web browser on your computer click here. On your phone click on install. (Remember you can now install to the memory card on your phone.) After you install the app you will be reminded about data usage, then a channel download is performed. After that you are asked for your Sirius XM credentials. Just fill it out and you should be up and running pretty quickly.
A lot of Satellite Radio apps don’t support all the channels available from Sirius XM, on the other hand, right out of the box, you get all the channels with this SXRadio2. You also can set your favorite channels as presets.
Once you click on a channel to play it the app buffers the audio and begins playing. Some Satellite Radio apps can’t handle loss of signal very well but for me, SXRadio2 handled it without issue. As a bonus, some songs have album art while it is playing.
If you like to listen to Sirius XM satellite radio while mobile SXRadio2 is a great app for Windows Phone users. And Sirius should get there heads out of their tails and build an app for all platforms. Slacker Radio is a great app for music lovers. And they were already smart enough to get all the phone platforms in the fold.
