I bought my ViewSonic Viewpad 10 for one reason and one reason only and that was to be able to install the Windows 8 Developer build as soon as it became available. Today is that day and I was fully prepared to take tomorrow off because I thought I would be up all night getting Windows 8 to install but I was met with a pleasant surprise. The install took all of 10 minutes, and I will let that sink in for a second. The install probably went so fast because of the SSD that is in the Viewpad however, on the down side of the install there is only 3.29 gigs left from the available 16. I took some shots of the screens that came up during the setup I will write more about Windows 8 on the ViewSonic Viewpad 10 as time goes on.
I blinked my eye and the install had already rebooted this is the first Windows Screen that I saw
The first thing that we needed to setup was the Wireless
The next thing was to name the tablet
Now it was time to actually select a wireless network
At this point we are close to the end which meant getting through the basic settings options
Allow sharing from the network
Protecting the pc options
Help Windows Improve Settings
Check online for solutions
Share information with apps (similar to how a phone would work)
First logon to Windows Live from Windows
The Keyboard looks and functions fantastically
pulling my Windows Live info
Finally the Start Screen
I can’t wait to dig into Windows 8 some more but I am sure glad I bought this ViewSonic Viewpad. One thing to note is I only needed the keyboard to initiate the install after that I never needed it again. If you noticed all the settings used the sliders just like Windows Phone 7.
By the way my boot time was 16 seconds from pushing the power button to seeing the logon screen. I hope everything else goes well on here but at least I know the install works fine.
Awesome!
