Post image for Pictures Of Windows 8 Installed On The ViewSonic Viewpad 10

I bought my ViewSonic Viewpad 10 for one reason and one reason only and that was to be able to install the Windows 8 Developer build as soon as it became available. Today is that day and I was fully prepared to take tomorrow off because I thought I would be up all night getting Windows 8 to install but I was met with a pleasant surprise. The install took all of 10 minutes, and I will let that sink in for a second. The install probably went so fast because of the SSD that is in the Viewpad however, on the down side of the install there is only 3.29 gigs left from the available 16. I took some shots of the screens that came up during the setup I will write more about Windows 8 on the ViewSonic Viewpad 10 as time goes on.

I blinked my eye and the install had already rebooted this is the first Windows Screen that I saw

The first thing that we needed to setup was the Wireless

The next thing was to name the tablet

Now it was time to actually select a wireless network

I can’t wait to dig into Windows 8 some more but I am sure glad I bought this ViewSonic Viewpad. One thing to note is I only needed the keyboard to initiate the install after that I never needed it again. If you noticed all the settings used the sliders just like Windows Phone 7.

By the way my boot time was 16 seconds from pushing the power button to seeing the logon screen. I hope everything else goes well on here but at least I know the install works fine.

Awesome!

I like that you can see the Redskin Jersey reflecting off the tablet. That’s a nice touch.

      The perfect angle :)

Now if Rex can put up fantasy numbers like last week, I’ll be a believer.

Can you update the complete steps of how to install , did you use a USB drive and the ISO image for the install ?

    • Chris

I hope to have that done later today however I did use a USB key to do the install.

looks pretty cool man.  Hope to see a future post of how you like it.  Did you do this as a dual boot?

Not working out as seemless as I would like. Seems the screen resolution on this thing is to low and so I can’t use the default apps however other things do work.

So do they just fail entirely? Or is it more like they bleed off the screen? What about the control panel app?

        • Chris

The individual apps won’t launch however the control panel, Windows Explorer, and desktop all work along with any app you install. They don’t bleed off the screen at all in fact the start menu fits well. The only one that I wish worked was the browser even though the IE 10 desk top browser is amazing on this thing.
