It is difficult to sit on the side lines and watch all the hype and fun around the new iPhone. I was talking to Chris’s wife about her new iPhone and explained I grabbed her the Invisible Shield which is one of the best screen or device protectors on the market. It is not designed to protect from dropping the device rather scratching the screen. In light of the current reception issue with the iPhone 4 she is going to need a case to prevent covering the antenna slot. As much as I hate to push her to the Apple Case it appears they had a jump start on providing a solution to a vendor created problem.
We got to talking about all the accessories she may want for her phone like a waterproof case for the beach and headset for handsfree calling. While today she like to hold the phone Maryland law will require handsfree come October 2010. Over 90% of my mobile phone usage is via my Plantronic Voyager Pro, Jawbone Icon, or VModa Vibe II headsets, this made my recommendations easy. Oddly using handfree will actually help with the iPhone 4 reception issues since you are not holding the phone. For a waterproof case I checked but Otterbox does not yet have iPhone 4 cases so I suggested the Overboard Waterproof Case for a beach trip. Another great waterproof case is the DryCase.It is not overly expensive and seems to address the issue of sand and water.
After all that conversation I was over my iPhone 4 excitement. I will be jailbreaking my iPhone 3GS today and installing iMovie as I want to try out the video editing.
