If you are like me, a staunch supporter of Windows Mobile, you get frustrated when things do not work right. I hate giving the Apple tools any reason to talk crap about Windows Mobile (Windows Phone). Now with the Motorola  DROID coming along we really need to stick together. With that being said, I cannot ignore how much Windows Media Player Mobile Sucks! In my search for a solid replacement, I was surprised to see that sometimes less is more. Enter Mobile Media Center.

It is what the name says. The guys over at OABsoftware have created what I consider to be a gem. They basically have taken the Media Center interface and crammed it into a Phone, wait the best phone, Windows Phone. Look no further that the familiar Ding to realize you are home. Does it sound like I am a huge fan of WME?

When you launch Mobile Media Center you are taken to the start screen. From there you can choose to enter Music, Pictures, Videos, Online or Settings. Probably the best feature in Mobile Media Center is that it supports folders for all your media. This means thumbnails for the folders for a nice look and feel when choosing what to listen to or view. The other thing that is great about Mobile Media Center is that it is fast. Much faster than Windows Media Player Mobile. It also supports both .WMV and .MP4.

If you’re a Podcast or RSS feed reader it is easily configured in Mobile Media center. They show up under the online heading in the start menu and are configured in the settings. There are a few things I would like to see enhanced. But much like when Johnny Depp shot the cook to restore balance to the world because that’s what I do I restore balance to the Country ( Once Upon a Time in Mexico) it may not be a good idea for OABsoftware to make this APP any better. With that said I would love to see some tightening up of the directional icons when playing media. When I play a song in the playlist it should go to the next song not stop and wait for me to choose another. Finally an option to delete. Especially the downloaded RSS feeds. The only thing I am looking for now is how to make it my default player on my phone. I will post that when I figure it out. Check out the guys over at OABsoftware. The APP is free ( Make a donation if you can)

Sounds like a potential gem for Windows Phone. But why go through all that work to get a MP3 player to work for you?

On face that is a good question but if we are talking about good apps and consolidating devices then you have to look at it as a solid addition.
