At the end of last week, LogMeIn announced a Beta of their LogMeIn client for the Android platform. At that time, they announced that they were going to limit the number of participants in the program. Upon checking this morning, I found that, indeed, the beta was closed. Through sheer persistence, I was able to download the client on Friday while sitting on an airplane at a gate, waiting to leave. Lucky me! I have used LogMeIn (Free Edition) for years to help with Tech Support for (elderly) family members. It’s just so easy to connect to the clients that I had pre-loaded on the machines that I had setup for them. It enables me to see what they see and in many cases, reach out and solve their issues. And I always leave it running on at least one machine at home, so that at the drop of a hat, I can connect back in, just as if I were sitting at the machine myself.

Android
I am still working through the usage of each of these clients. Of course, the Web Browser should be a no-brainer. And, actually, the iPad is very much the same. The only shock there is the $29.95 client cost! The Android client, however, is a bit different. It displays very well, but I am still working out how to move/use the cursor. Still, its VERY nice to be able to see what’s on your PC, as if you were there. Unlike opening a Remote Access windows on that machine, LogMeIn does NOT affect the current session. When you log back up, your remote PC is identical to how it was before. Whether you just use the Free version, or decide to upgrade to the Pro, you will find the experience marvelous. Let me know what your experience with this is. Enjoy!
