With all the hoopla surrounding the iPad Microsoft may have snuck in a sneak attack. Microsoft is breaking out their own tablet device which could take the iPad out before it takes off. Engadget has a picture of a device from Microsoft that is being called the Courier tablet. It is a dual screen device that has Multi Touch and a Stylus. Gizmodo broke early images of the Courier in September, 2009.

The Courier is rumored to have NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 Chipset and run the same OS as the Zune and Windows Phone 7. Perhaps taking head to some of the knocks the iPad got the courier will also have a camera built in. Of course it is expected to have an EBOOK reader, which may explain some of the angles Microsoft had in mind when striking a deal with Amazon a few weeks ago.

The debate will rage on weather this device is real or just a Prototype but the video looks really good. With the UI on Phone 7 and now another slick UI on the Courier Apple had better be rethinking its concept of reusing it’s already 3 year old interface. Which is a lifetime in the world of technology.

For me personally, I have my HP Mini Netbook and that’s all I need.

I would LOVE to get back to using a pen. I have been a TabletPC user for almost a decade. But the one thing that has always eluded us is an OS designed from the ground up for pen/touch. If this design can do it, I will be all over it! I am actually quite excited about it NOT being Windows 7. I really love that OS, but there is too much not built for pen/touch. Here’s to hoping that 2010 turns out great!
