We were wondering how HTC was going to handle Apples lawsuit and it looks like we just found our answer. On Wednesday HTC decided to take its ongoing patent dispute with Apple to the next level. They asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to block the importation of iPads, iPhones, and iPods from Apple’s offshore facilities.
Information Weeks website had some more details. They quoted the North American Vice President as saying
As the innovator of the original Windows Mobile PocketPC Phone Edition in 2002 and the first Android smartphone in 2008, HTC believes the industry should be driven by healthy competition and innovation that offers consumers the best, most accessible mobile experiences possible
We are taking this action against Apple to protect our intellectual property, our industry partners, and most importantly our customers that use HTC phones
This fight has just gotten really interesting. We all figured that HTC being a smaller company would have just went to court and defended themselves. But they took the old best defense is a good offense approach. I just hope they know what they are doing. I don’t want any delays for my Windows Phone 7 device.
