iOS Delete EMails

The most common question I have received from new Verizon iPhone 4 users is, how do I delete multiple email messages. Shockingly this process on iOS is not as intuitive as on a BlackBerry or Windows Phone 7 but it is still simple.

Every person I spoke to said the same thing, I selected the first and last message, however it did not multi-select. Not a single one noticed the blue edit button in the upper right corner. iOS is intuitive, nevertheless deleting multiple emails is more obvious on BlackBerry and Windows Phone.

To Delete Multiple Emails On iOS

  1. Press the edit button in the upper right corner
  2. Select the desired messages by clicking the circle that appeared
  3. Press the red delete button

This same process works if you need to search of message except the edit button moves to the lower right once you initiate a search.

Oddly enough – when I am trying to delete email from my Gmail account, I don’t get a “delete” button, i get an “Archive” button… I’ll send you a screenshot.

It would also be nice if there were a “Select all” feature, as selecting emails 4-at-a-time is not very efficient.
