It is being reported that AT&T Wireless made an extreme move yesterday. According to a CNET.com’s article the iPhone is not being sold online to NY anymore. The reason customers are getting vary from, we have changed our promotions for that area, to telling customers that there are not enough towers to handle them. Now before everyone jumps up in arms with AT&T’s network  I have to pose another question.

Is this a problem with AT&T’s Network or the design of the iPhone?

I hear that iPhone users are screaming but what about all the other phones on the network.  If the problem is truly the network, one would suspect a broad variety of user complaints. If it is a design issue could this phone holdup on any other network?. I suspect that we will never get the answers to this but it is amazing how all the mention of throttling high internet users and slower networks all are attributed to the iPhone. Look at a another thing, when Slingmedia first came out with the mobile app a lot of blackberry and Windows Mobile users were using it. But for the iPhone they won’t let you use it over the ATT network. Something has got to be up. I travel and I have used my Tilt 2 in San Francisco and NY on the AT&T 3G network without much of an issue.  Either way if this is truly about the network this is a huge Black eye for ATT.
