Everyone that is drooling over the HTC Titan is still holding out a ray of chance that Nokia’s devices will be better. One of the phones Nokia is rumored to be announcing next week is the 800, which was codenamed the Searay which pocketnow.com was able to get some leaked pictures of. They look the same as past images but apparently, these are press shots that will be used next week. Does this phone sway you off your next Windows Phone 7 device I know I am sticking with the HTC Titan so far.

Blackberry users have been suffering for quite some time and with the recent outage at RIM things are getting worse. However, just when BlackBerry users thought all was lost, a fantastic offer is here courtesy of Windows Phone evangelist Ben Rudolph in a tweet, he sent out earlier. [click to continue…]
This weekend I had a chance to do a guest spot on Allison Sheridan’s chit chat across the pond segment of the NosillaCast Podcast. Her show is an awesome podcast that covers many topics with an “ever so slight” Apple angle on the show. Allison was guest on the SMRPodcast Episode #85. If you listen to that episode, you know she is a great guest and a very funny person. On this week’s episode I talk a lot about Windows Phone 7 and the things that I love about the platform in general moreover, we talk a bit about Windows 8 and Xbox too.

The rumor has been going on for a while and now Microsoft has made it official that the Xbox 360 will be able to stream television content. In the press release, Microsoft touted agreements with content providers such as Xfinity TV (Comcast), Verizon FIOS, HBO GO and more. Unfortunately, there was no news about DirecTV. The interesting thing about this announcement is that the content can be controlled by using your voice with Kinect. [click to continue…]
If you connect your Samsung Focus to your PC and check for updates, you will see an update to the final build version number 7720. As promised by Brandon Watson yesterday the Windows Phone 7 DEV team actually came up with an update to bring Developer phones to the latest version as opposed to the original scenario involving restoring the device to NODO. Probably the most beautiful thing I saw during the update is the fact that all my settings were still on my phone.

Pandora has been holding out on an application for Windows Phone 7 but the one thing that will tide jaded users over is the HTML 5 support, which seems to have gone live. Both Apple and Microsoft have stated that HTML 5 is the future if the internet and it seems Pandora agreed. When you go to pandora.com on your Windows Phone 7 device, you will finally see the page render. Simple enter in an artist and the player will start streaming. The nice thing about the IE streaming on Mango is it works in the background and continues to play when you go back to your home screen.

Password Padlock is a nice password manager for Windows Phone 7. While the majority of my passwords are stored in, LastPass there are some one offs that I like to keep in Password Padlock. The app is only 1.99 and features the ability to create categories and the ability to backup passwords encrypted or unencrypted by emailing them to you. In the new version, you can leverage fast app switching which is awesome when trying to copy a password into another application. You can also pin your favorite password to the Start screen for quick access.

This weekend we reported that YouTube had stopped working on Windows Phone 7. Both the web browser and Microsoft’s YouTube app would no longer play video’s, pressing the watch now button did nothing. Today, it seems that not only has the site started working again on Phone 7, but it has been improved in both aesthetic and functionality. Now, you don’t even need videos play inline like on the iPhone and other devices, thus no YouTube app is required. It appears that Google has finally realized that Windows Phone 7 supports HTML5 and has switched the pages that is displayed. Now if they would just switch the Google Voice mobile app experience to what iOS users get, I may start to believe they are not as evil as I think they are.

For some reason the default support for YouTube videos seems to be broken on my Samsung Focus running Windows Phone 7 Mango. It took me a little longer to catch an issue on my phone as I tend to use the YouTube app by Lazyworm. My wife came to me this morning and sais she could not play any videos on her Phone 7 device. I thought she was crazy and had her bring her device to me and it turns out she was right.
