Looks like AT&T is first to strike with their second generation Windows Phones opening up sales of the new devices on November 6. The announcement was made on their Facebook page today, which is frustrating but exciting news. It also nice to see the Focus Flash will be only $49.99 while the Focus s will be 199.99. The only question I have left is when the HTC Titan is releasing which I hope will be answered sometime soon.

There are quite a few weather apps on Windows Phone 7 however; WeatherLive is quickly becoming my favorite. WeatherLive is loaded with tons of features such as Toast notifications, Bing Images for your background, weather for Multiple Locations, 6-day forecast with daily details and trends, and more. My favorite feature is how WeatherLive uses live tiles. Not only does it display the current weather, but also the tile will flip over and show you an Icon representing the current conditions for example, and image of clouds with rain or a sun.

In an effort to show Symbian owners why they should be switching to Windows Phone, Nokia is allowing them to install a limited demo of Windows Phone 7 on their Symbian devices. The Nokia Lumia 800 app is available at the Nokia’s OVI Store. Not all phones are compatible therefore on the app page is a phone selector to help you determine if your device is compatible. I am rooting for a full trade in program but at least this is a start.

Anyone that his been a Windows Phone 7 fan knows that the marketing for the platform has been severely lacking but this past week has been an entire different story. HTC has been taking out full page ads for the upcoming HTC Titan and the HTC Radar in the front and back pages of the papers and Nokia has given away the new Lumia 800 to all the X-Factor UK finalist.

On Windows Phone, there is no obvious way to pin system settings like Bluetooth, WiFi, or Airplane Mode to the screen. With Android, you can use a widget, which allows you to toggle these settings on/off with the tap of a finger. Additionally, you can use a shortcut on Android to access this setting so you can connect to a Bluetooth or WiFi device. This same functionality is available on Windows Phone with Network Dashboard, Connectivity Shortcuts, Connection Tiles, or Toggle.

After many months of anticipation, Nokia has finally announced their flagship Windows Phone 7 device the Nokia Lumia. The specs on this device are not that bad but I have to say I am disappointed with the lack of a front facing camera.
- 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 CPU
- 12.1mm (0.48-inch) thick polycarbonate plastic
- A curved ClearBlack AMOLED (800 x 480) display
- 8-megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss optics-enhanced lens
- 16GB of internal storage
- 512MB of RAM
- HSDPA download speeds of up to 14.4Mbps
The Lumia 800 is listed at €420 ($585.00) and is up for preorder for parts of Europe and will be available in Pink, Black and Blue. Despite my slight disappointment in the lack of a front camera and having to wait in the US no one can deny that the device is beautiful.

A new tool that can be installed on developer unlocked Windows Phone devices uses the camera button to take screen shots. While Microsoft doesn’t see Screen Capturing as a top feature every single Windows Phone Blogger does moreover, bloggers help get the word out about Windows Phone therefore it should be a top feature and thank goodness Jerry Jiang over at XDA Developers agrees with me.

A post by Eric Hautala who is the General Manager of Customer Experience Engineering, has posted that some Windows Phone devices will see updates this week. There are some interesting rumors floating around this update leading us to believe that Wi-Fi tethering on the Windows Phone Blog. While that was the news that interested us the most the main part of Eric’s post was the fact that they are opening the floodgates to the Mango update as opposed to the early staged rollout.

The people over at the Windows Team Blog posted some nice shots of the upcoming AT&T Windows Phone 7 devices the Samsung Focus S, HTC Titan, and the Samsung Focus Flash. The Titan is the 4.7-inch beast while the Samsung Focus s is sitting at a not too shabby 4.3-inch screen. The Flash is a lower end device to hit a smaller price point. Recently, the first generation AT&T phones are starting to be discontinued so it should only be a matter of time before the new phones launch. The only question at this point is do you wait for Nokia’s Windows Phone devices or are one of these devices good enough?
