FreeCaddie

You don’t need to be an expert golf player to want a rangefinder. FreeCaddiePro was just released for Windows Phone 7. I have used FreeCaddie to help with club selection and to find hazards that may be outside of my view. When you are out on the course you are frequently looking for distance markers to determine how far you are away from the greens. FreeCaddie give you distance to the front, center, and back of the greens as well as distance to hazards, bunkers, and doglegs. All of this on top of keeping score.

Post image for Dell Venue Pro For AT&T is Available For Pre-Order

For those people that have been looking for the Dell Venue Pro on AT&T your day may be coming soon. The Venue Pro is one of the best looking Windows Phone 7 devices out there. Unfortunately, Dell has not been able to keep up with the demand. On top of that add in a few phone issues and you have a bad start for such a promising phone. On the site pocketnow.com it looks like the found a pre-order for the Venue Pro for AT&T. The price is listed at 639.50 which means that you are not getting it subsidized. Now I don’t expect everyone to run out and grab this phone from Negri Electronics. But, I know there were some people on AT&T that wanted that phone instead of the the other three that were available at launch. Pocketnow is usually pretty solid with their information so hopefully this means a new phone for AT&T very soon.

Post image for 2.1 Million Windows Phone 7 Licenses Sold 93 Percent Satisfaction

I have been stressing that Windows Phone 7 is a great smartphone since I have had it. I truly believe that the average user would be extremely happy with it. Matthew Miller of zdnet.com had a chance to speak with Greg Sullivan from Microsoft. In the conversation it was revealed that 2.1 Million Licenses of Windows Phone 7 has been sold to manufacturers. That probably translates to 1 to 1.5 million actual devices sold. As far as I am concerned it is a decent start for the platform. I would live to have seen it fly out the gates but that is just not realistic.  However there was another great thing revealed in the interview.

Tip: Select Multiple Messages In Email

Post image for Tip: Select Multiple Messages In Email

Once in a while you for get how easy it is to do a feature on your phone. The other day I wanted to delete a bunch of emails on my Windows Phone 7 Samsung Focus, but could not remember how to do it. There are actually two ways to select multiple messages. If you look at the bottom of the screen there is an icon that looks like bullet points (at first glance) but instead it is the option to slide the messages to the right and reveal check boxes. From there clicking on any message puts a check into the box. Once all your desired messages are selected you have a few options:

  • Mark as read
  • Mark as unread
  • Delete
  • move

There is also another way to select multiple messages. if you click to the left of any email it will slide the message over and reveal the boxes again. The cool thing about this option is the message that you clicked next to, is checked allowing you to move on to the next one.

Have Your Google Reader Feeds Read To You With Spoon Feed For Windows Phone 7

Spoon Feed

I subscribe to over 100 RSS Feeds in Google Reader so when I have a moment I like to reed my feeds. Spoon Feed is a free RSS reader for Windows Phone 7 users. Just enter your Google Reader username and password, then you get a voice notification that is is downloading all your feeds. The reason the App is called Spoon Feed is because it reads your RSS Feeds to you. This is not my cup of tea as the it reads significantly slower then I can.

Post image for Is Apple Copying The Windows Phone 7 People Hub?

There is an interesting article on pcworld.com that made me chuckle a little. For the last few weeks people have been diving into the iOS 4.3 beta 2 release. They have been finding interesting tidbits here in there. Being a Windows Phone fan, I found this particular piece inevitable. The HUB route that Microsoft took is just awesome. Having a single location to find a lot of information is just brilliant. In the article a new folder was located called “Media Stream”. Inside of that folder is an option called “Photo Stream”. According to 9-5 mac, the “Photo Stream” option is supposed to let you share photos with friends.

What Would make the Best Twitter Client on Windows Phone 7

Twitter

I reached out to a friend, Aaron, to get an understanding of what a college student who uses Twitter would like in a client. He recently upgraded from the iPhone 3Gs to Windows Phone 7, so here is his wish list based on his experiences on WP7.

If you are a huge Twitter user you likely understand there is no one Twitter client that has all the features you want. I use the official Twitter client and Seesmic and while both have essential features, no one client has all the features a Twitter enthusiast desires. [click to continue…]

Post image for Microsoft Tracks Down Excessive Data Usage On Windows Phone 7

A week or so ago we wrote about an issue that some users were seeing with Windows Phone 7 and excessive data usage. Some of the users were seeing 50mb a day. But the biggest problem was the fact that the data use was seen over 3G even though the phone was connected to WiFi. Well all that seems to be coming to an end. Today seattlepi.com published Microsoft’s findings.
