Windows Phone 7 Game Bye Bye Brain Looks Great

by Chris on September 8, 2010

I like watching all the game demos that have been coming out. These games are for the new Windows Phone 7 platform. With so many videos showing up Microsoft must be excited their plan is working. When I originally saw the news of Bye Bye Brain pop up I kind of chalked it up to another cool game coming out. This morning I realized I hadn’t watched the video yet. After seeing the video I realized that I can be on this game for hours. It actually looked to be a lot of fun. I love the way you can rotate the the phone and the game uses the accelerometer to change your view. Take a look at the video and tell us what you think.

NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU coming to LG Phones

by Chris on September 7, 2010

Post image for NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU coming to LG Phones

There is no doubt that we could be heading to a stare where your phone is your main pc. Especially with all the updates coming to the mobile processor. A few weeks ago NVIDIA announced that they had a dual core phone processor. But even with the announcement we haven’t seen a lot of phone manufactures sign on to use them. Enter in LG. LG announced today that they will begin to use these chips. if your wondering why they are using the Tegra 2 here is a quote from the press release

“Tegra 2 features a number of mobile "firsts": the first mobile dual-core CPU, the only ultra low-power NVIDIA GeForce(r) GPU and the first 1080p HD mobile video processor. Taking full advantage of the two speedy 1 GHz processors sharing the workload in Tegra 2, consumers can experience up to 2x faster web browsing and up to 5x faster gaming performance over single core processors running at 1 GHz. NVIDIA's leadership in graphics also delivers flawless 1080p HD video playback, console-quality gaming and amazing 3D capabilities”

Now I am hoping to see these chips in LG’s Windows Phone 7 devices.

Bing Mobile on QVGA Devices Discontinued

by Chris on September 3, 2010

Post image for Bing Mobile on QVGA Devices Discontinued

Although Microsoft said they will continue to support Windows Mobile it looks like they didn’t mean Bing. According to wmpoweruser.com, Microsoft has discontinued support fro Bing on QVGA devices. This move is geared to allow Microsoft to focus on Windows Phone 6.1, 6.5 and of course Windows Phone 7. I am sure there will be a lot of upset people but let’s be honest, you should all be getting ready to grab a Phone 7 device anyway. Bing Mobile is being is actively checking for the specs on the phone and if they don’t meet the requirements a message is displayed telling you so. Those users that can not install the app anymore are prompted to use http://m.bing.com instead.

Review Of Windows Phone 7 After A Month Of Use

by Chris on September 1, 2010

Post image for Review Of Windows Phone 7 After A Month Of Use

A lot of developers have had weeks to evaluate and test Windows Phone 7. I have to say that I am extremely happy with the mostly positive reviews of the device. I am also happy that most of the criticism has been constructive. Ina Fried, a CNET writer, has written her review of Windows Phone 7. Ina’s review is based on using Phone 7 as her primary device for a month. I have to say her review was surprisingly fair. I never had a lot of faith in CNET. She points out what she feels are positives about the phone such as the hardware camera button, and the elegance of using it, She of course points out what she felt where negatives.

Windows Phone 7 Touchscreen Gesture Demo

by Chris on September 1, 2010

Post image for Windows Phone 7 Touchscreen Gesture Demo

One of the biggest parts of touch screen devices is gesture support. This was done very well by Apple and has now carried forward to all touchscreen phones. Basically a gesture is a motion you execute on the screen. Once you do the motion the phones translate that into an action. For example, when you swipe you finger from left to right on your phone, chances are, the screen will shift in that direction. Windows Phone 7 is no different in the need to support gestures. And the fact that it does is no surprise. However, the surprise comes with how smart the phone is and the amount of gestures it supports.

LG Windows Phone 7 C900 Video Leaked

by Chris on August 31, 2010

Post image for LG Windows Phone 7 C900 Video Leaked

This morning there was a leak of the LG E900 from a site called android.com.pl. This was a nice looking phone that is going to be released in Europe. Now it seems that they same site may have a leaked video of the AT&T version the C900. This version of the phone has a slide out keyboard. The thing that I like about C900 is that it is still a slim phone even though it has a keyboard.

by Chris on August 31, 2010

Post image for Text Messaging on Windows Phone 7

So far we have seen great videos from pocketnow.com. They have demoed for us making calls, email usage, browser usage and now text messaging. I am sure for most people text messaging is an important feature. I have never really seen a bad text messaging experience but now everyone wants conversations. Most people want to see the whole conversation when looking at texts. Apple added this feature and now it’s a must.

LG’s Windows Phone 7 Device E900 Has 1.3 GHZ Processor

by Chris on August 31, 2010

Post image for LG’s Windows Phone 7 Device E900 Has 1.3 GHZ Processor

Is it Christmas already. That is the anticipation that I have everyday now. And every time I get a hold of a new leak or demo video I get all Christmassy inside. A website called android.com.pl has some leaked shots of the LG 900. This is LG’s Windows Phone 7 device without the keyboard. These shots make the phone look really great. And with that fast processor videos should be a breeze. Apparently the E900 will have a 1.3GHZ Snapdragon, integrated GPS, HD video recording and playback, and multi-mode UMTS and CDMA 3G connectivity. The folks in Europe are lucky but hopefully the US version will be this nice too.

Post image for AT&T Tilt 2 Software Update Available

Right now I am using the Nexus One. However my favorite phone to date is the AT&T Tilt 2. It has been put for a while and now there is a ROM update Available for it. You can locate the ROM update on HTC’s website. Always remember that a ROM update will wipe the data off of your phone. So Please backup your pictures and videos and anything else you want to keep. If you are looking for a place to store your data take a look at the Pogo Plug.Brent did a review on it and it is a great way to keep your data accessible.

Is Dell Dropping Windows Phone 7?

by Chris on August 27, 2010

Post image for Is Dell Dropping Windows Phone 7?

Please tell me that there is not any truth to this story. Engadget.com has cited a story from a TechCrunch analyst that sates Dell is dropping Windows Phone 7. Now normally I would not care about something like this but the Dell Windows Phone ( the lightning) that was leaked earlier this year looked fantastic. It was a really good looking phone. And to add insult to injury this is the one that I was really leaning towards getting. Now Engadget asked that we take this news with a grain of salt so I should respect that. But I am really waiting for Dell to come out and refute this story as quickly as possible. Say it ain’t so Dell, say it ain’t so. We will definitely have to keep an eye on this story.
