YomoMedia is a Good Podcasting APP for Windows Phone

YoMo Media

A few weeks back I mentioned the fact that I am getting more into listening to podcasts. My favorite show is the Lavar Arrington Show on CBS Radio. Thanks to Rod’s suggestion I started listening to Windows Weekly too. Windows Phone, despite the existing install base, does not have many great podcasting apps. Traditionally, most people would use a Zune or iPod, but Rod pointed out all the benefits of a podcasting app that can leverage your mobile phones data plan (See 10 Reason’s Podtrapper is Blackberry Gold).  I have gone through several apps and today I am using YomoMedia for Windows Mobile. Finally an application developer built an app for Windows Phone that has a fantastic interface.

EBook Series Conclusion

Every time I mention eBooks, I often hear comments about what a bad experience it is. I hear it usually from someone who has never given it a try. On the other hand, I also hear people express interest, but then they comment that they just can’t afford it. What I want to do is give you a quick guide on how you can start experiencing electronic books with no cost involved Well no cost assuming that you have a computer available. ( I assume that because you are reading this!) I should caution you however, that this is very addictive and you will probably find yourself budgeting for the next great electronic reader. Beware!

What is the Push to Talk button for?

A lot of the newer AT&T phones has a button on the side labeled PTT. This button is used for the Push to Talk Service. It is only available if you add another 5.99 to your phone plan. This would then give you Walkie Talkie like capabilities on your phone. Similar to Sprint Nextel’s offering. However not as smoothly as Nextel. [click to continue…]

Post image for Windows Phone 7 Possibly Being delayed.

I am starting to see various news reports crop up that Windows Phone 7 is being delayed. Some sites are saying this is extremely bad news for Microsoft while others suggest the deal is related to the success of the Droid. Either way being a proponent of Windows Phone I welcome the delay.

Windows Mobile has HandsFree Voice Commands done right

One of the most underutilized features on Windows Mobile is Voice Command. In fact, the Android, iPhone, and Blackberry fans need to recognize the voice commands in Windows Mobile are superior to these platforms in all ways. Voice control technology has been around for a long time but really is not talked about much. It is a shame, because it is such an integral part of my life. I use voice control daily in my Chevy Avalanche with OnStar.

PointUI and FingerKeyboard Gives an Old Phone A New Look

by Chris on January 7, 2010 · 3 comments

This Christmas my stepson was added to my phone plan with AT&T. He will be on a probation period to start off with. That probation period includes using my HTC Wizard otherwise known as the Cingular 8125. Yes, that is an old Windows Mobile Phone but it still works. Sometimes we expect everyone to get the latest greatest phone but not everyone can afford to get the Tilt 2. So untill he can he is stuck. Now this phone was great in its time but of course by today’s standard…… no chance. Especially for a freshman in college. So I set out to make the Wizard a bit better. To my suprise, with very little effort I made it a lot better!

Last week I wrote about my exposure to the KeyPro drivers for Bluetooth keyboards and Android. Since that time, I have continued to play with this concept, and KeyPro has released (at least) two driver upgrades, which you can download from the Android Market. The current version, which I loaded today, is 1.06.08. [click to continue…]
