AT&T Reverses it’s Decision on iPhone and SlingPlayer Mobile

SlingPlayer Mobile, one of my favorite apps, has been around for quite some time. When it was released for the iPhone it was crippled by the fact that it could not run over the 3G network. Windows Phone had no issues. This was a great area for me to mock the iPhone but AT&T has now taken that away from me.

Is LastPass the Password Manager for you

by Rod on February 4, 2010 · 7 comments

What is LastPass

LastPass is a web password manager that works on both desktops (Windows, OSX, Linux) and mobile devices (Symbian, Windows Phone, Blackberry, iPhone, and Android). Additionally, LastPass covers the major web browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome). To put it simply, when you navigate to a site the prompts you to logon (Facebook, Twitter, Digg, GMail, Yahoo, Windows Live Mail, etc) a password manager (LastPass) will automatically fill in the credentials for you. Many people allow the browser to save their passwords but that is extremely insecure as access to the clear text password in all browsers is a single click away. Additionally, the saved password is only stored on that computer in that browser. The promise of LastPass is a secure method to store your password so it is accessible, provided you have internet access, which is when you need to use them. Additionally, because your information is stored in the web, you can transition from computer-to-computer to mobile device without the need to synchronize updated information.

A Windows Mobile View of LastPass

by Chris on February 4, 2010 · 0 comments

On Rod’s suggestion I gave LastPass a look on Windows Mobile. I wanted to give my views of LastPass without reading Rod’s First. From my perspective it does get crazy managing all the passwords for so many different sites. Furthermore with the need for stronger and stronger passwords there is still no happy median between stronger passwords that are easy to remember. I suspect that is the issue holding people back from using real passwords vs. their wife’s birthday. The desktop component was simple enough to install and configure and for that matter so was the phone app. My overall impression is that LastPass is definitely useful but there are a bunch of things I would like to see improved. Loudtalks main 1

A few weeks ago I wrote an article about reassigning the push to talk button (ptt) on your Phone.  I used my button as a Home Screen button, but you can really choose what ever app you want. After I published the article I received a response with a very candid idea. Use the ptt for what it was meant for. But the whole reason why I do not use it today is I have to pay for it. Loudtalks Lite lets you use it for free

Post image for A Great use of the Camera Phone

We have all seen the person wondering around the airport parking lot looking for their car. Or the person that sets off the car alarm in the parking lot so they can locate the car. I have done both. Some parking lots give you a slip that says where you are parked but that is only good if you actually keep the little slip of paper safe. [click to continue…]

Post image for MyMobiler 1.25 Beta is available

One of my favorite apps for my Tilt 2 is MyMobiler which allows you to connect your phone to your pc. Once connected you can actually use your mouse and keyboard for inputs on your phone. MyMobiler also supports Copy/Cut/Paste between your phone and your computer. The best feature of MyMobiler is that it can take screen shots and video recordings of your screen. MyMobiler is another free app created for Windows Phone.

You can download the current version of MyMobiler or the beta version MyMobiler Beta

Windows Phone’s Functional Lock Screen

Windows Phone Functional Lock Screen

One of the downsides of having a touch screen phone is the inevitable accidental dialing of a contact. I sometimes wonder how many relationships have come to an end because of it. The other issue is when you put the phone up to your face. How many times have you accidently ended a call when your face hits the button? The HTC Tilt 2 addresses the latter problem by adding a proximity sensor to the phone. When the phone reaches your face, it automatically shuts off the screen. The former issue is solved by locking the Screen. But you know this already so what is the point? Well let me tell you.
