Verizon has released the Samsung 4G LTE mobile hotspot for $99 on a 2 year contract or $249 contract free. It appears the mobile hotspot will share the same data plan as the usb modem which is $50 for 5 GB or $80 for 10 GB. If you exceed your data plan you will be charged $10 per GB. Hopefully like the Sprint 4G hotspot there is a way to track data usage. With the amazing speed of LTE it will be extremely easy to exceed the data plans.

Since Verizon preview the 2011 LTE roadmap for 2011 many have been waiting for them to release a 4G LTE MiFi type device. The Samsung SCH-LC11 was my preferred device and if the Engadget rumor is correct it will release on March 31st.
May have been waiting on updating their mobile broadband devices in hopes of getting one of Verizon’s new LTE devices. The Pantech UML 290 USB modem has been available for sometime on Verizon however the hotspot seems like the best device since you can share with you iPad, iPod Touch, Xoom, or BlackBerry Playbook.
Pricing is still unknown lets hope the data the blinding fast LTE speed will make this worth the wait.

The release today of the HTC Thunderbolt, the first smartphone on Verizon to support the 4G LTE speeds is just the first of many that we will see introduced over the course of 2011. This will also include a host of tablet devices as well. Similar to what they offer for 4G LTE USB modem devices, Verizon has announced that you will also be able to purchase any of these devices at full retail prices (that means with no contract whatsoever) and not be required to have a voice plan.

If anyone is, doubting that Verizon was getting Windows Phone 7 then maybe this will make you a believer. Website winrumors.com came across a Verizon Wireless support page for Windows Phone 7. On this page are some basic help items that are mostly from Microsoft. Nonetheless, they would not be up there if the phone were not coming to their network. Now the question remains, when are they getting Windows Phone 7? The early Verizon Windows Phone 7 rumors have an arrival of this month but that may not be the case. I know there are quite a few people hoping for a Phone 7 device on Verizon so hopefully it is sooner rather than later.

Finally, there is a nice clean shot of the HTC Trophy Windows Phone 7 device. As expected, it is also running the latest version of Phone 7 which makes sense because it included CDMA support. Early rumors have the release coming sometime in March however; there is not a confirmed date. I know my cousin and others will be excited about this information but I would love Robb to get on the Windows Phone 7 train.

Once again, Consumer Reports refuse to recommend the iPhone 4 for purchase. Despite giving Apple’s product high ratings, once again the antennae issue has once again hampered the iPhone. Apple certainly attempted to address the issue with Verizon by adding an additional connector; however, during certain scenarios you grip can cause a dropped call. An accepted remedy is to use a case with your phone. We love the Otterbox Case and deem it one of our favorites. [click to continue…]
With Sprint announcing their Windows Phone 7 Device this week we are all left wondering when will Verizon get a device? This part could be early speculation; however, WinRumors.com has just reported that Verizon will get the HTC Trophy Windows Phone 7 device in March. The site also wrote that the announcement could be Monday, February 28 and will be 200 dollars on contract. To the sites credit, they have been good about rumors. Therefore, I have no doubt that this is going to end up being true. Also, add in the fact that Paul Thurrott said that Verizon is definitely getting Windows Phone 7 I would this is good news.

I learned a valuable lesson today. If you have a Verizon Network Extender unplug it during iPhone 4 activation. I have spent 40 minutes on the phone with Verizon trying to understand why I could not get the device activated. I cannot say for certain, however I don not believe you can do device activation over a Verizon Network Extender. I dialed *228 and the call just disconnected. Once I unplugged the Network Extender everything worked fine.
