Amazon Cloud Player is a free 5 GB or 20 GB of online storage for Amazon customers to store and stream music and it just so happens to work on the BlackBerry Playbook. If you have an Amazon logon you get 5GB of storage, however if you purchase one digital album you are given 20 GB of storage. Amazon Cloud Drive, which hosts Cloud Player can store music, video, pictures, or files so they are accessible from any connected device.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that many people with desktop computers prefer using web applications like Gmail, as opposed to traditional desktop email clients. That same mindset on the desktop has transitioned to the tablet for many users. The number of users that do not use the built-in mail client on the iPad has shocked me. If you are one of those happy Gmail users on the BlackBerry PlayBook, you should know that you can print directly from Gmail or Google Docs using Google Cloud Print.

The BlackBerry Playbook is a true multi-tasking tablet OS, unlike the iPad. However, you need to change a setting as true multi-tasking is disabled by default. The beauty of the Playbook is that you can navigate to Pandora.com and stream music via the web browser vs. requiring a native application. The problem is the default setting on the Playbook is to pause applications when another app goes full screen. I treat my tablet much like a smartphone thus the only time it is powered off is to deal with it acting like it has is head shoved up its, well you know the rest. Yanking the battery or restarting a device is most frequently associated with the phone needing a moment of timeout so it can behave properly. One feature I like on the BlackBerry Playbook is the option to restart vs. shutdown. If you are and iPhone / iPad user you may know the pain of starting the restart process with a shutdown but getting distracted only to realized 30 minutes or 1 hr. later your phone is powered off.

Now that my wife has her Verizon iPhone 4, she has been hinting that she is ready to dump her iPod Touch and have an iPad, mine, to be exact. I am more than OK with that, but I need a replacement to use to read my electronic magazines, take to church for scriptures, and such. Despite the fact that it has not received overly rave reviews, I nevertheless decided to purchase a Motorola XOOM tablet, running the new Android Honeycomb 3.0 OS. It is not perfect, but potentially it will get better over time, as updates are released, and maybe it is gaining some momentum with developers too. But, it’s even bigger and heavier than the iPad. Maybe I am going backwards here? Oh well.

One of the best aspects of the latest update to the BlackBerry Playbook is attachments over Bridge Email.
