On one side of the house, Research In Motion have been losing applications with the latest being Google ending support for Google Sync on the BlackBerry however, it seems the Playbook is still attracting big name developers as Rovio released Angry Birds Space for the BlackBerry Playbook. Angry Birds Space is 2.99 in the Blackberry App World and features the loveable birds floating in space surrounded by space pigs.

On Episode 111 of the SMRPodcast we had the pleasure to interview Alec Saunders of Research in Motion. During the show we talked about the topic of Amazon bringing the Amazon App Store to the BlackBerry PlayBook and Alec explained RIM’s stance on side-loading apps. During the show I did not give it much thought until Twitter went crazy when Alec said in a more public venue that side-loading would not be allowed.

Modern Combat 2: BlackPegasus by Gameloft was recently updated from version 2.0 to 3.0. I cannot say I have noticed any obvious differences but hopefully many of the minor bugs like getting stuck in walls or other annoying bugs are resolved. My secret hope is for them to make the current kill zone I am in a bit easier so I can advance the game.
If you have not download Modern Combat you need to give it a shot on the PlayBook.

The video chat feature on the BlackBerry Playbook 2.0 is a giant leap forward compared to what was available in the first version of the software almost 1 year ago. Today marks the release of the Blackberry Playbook 2.0 software, which brings with it some new features but none as important as a native email client is. It was astounding that a company known for handling email could release the BlackBerry tablet without an email client. Users can expect the update to be delivered over-the-air probably in a controlled fashion.

Today Rim released the next version of the BlackBerry Playbook OS version 2.0. Rim allowed people to play with the OS at CES this year and it received positive feedback. With the release RIM also created a Playbook 2.0 how to video to help users get use to the new features. The playbook is something that we really like but it just seems that the device is going no where at the moment. Hopefully this new update will spur some more sales of the tablet.

I received a call from a friend saying, “When I launch bridge email on my Playbook the screen keeps flashing and the email never loads.” In my time using the PlayBook I never saw this issue so I asked for a video the make sure I understood exactly what was happening. We have not resolved the issue but are trying to uninstall to un-pair the devices and reinstall the Bridge client on the phone. If you are wondering calendar, contacts, and other Bridge features work fine this issue is isolated to the email app.
Has anyone had this issue on the BlackBerry Playbook. You can see the video after break.
