Today Apple announced their new iPad, which really confirms most of the rumors about their new tablet. The iPad 3 features a new quad-core A5X processor, 4G LTE radio, and an HD capable video camera. Apple is touting that the iPad 3 has a battery life of 9 hours on 4G and 10 Hours on 3G, which is very impressive, based on all the 4G battery woes that Android devices have seen.

Apples Has Released iOS 5.01 Update

iOS 5.01 Update

Apple has released the much awaited iOS 5.01, which should address the battery issues many users are experiencing. Hopefully it also covers the recent security exploit highlighted by Charlie Miller. Additionally this update should address multi  touch gestures on the original iPad, bugs with iCould documents, voice recognition for Australian users using dictation.

This is the first time you are able to update your iOS device OTA (over the air).  Over WiFi this update took about 1 minutes from clicking the button until it rebooted and started the install.  The install itself was completed in 3-4 minutes.  I remain connected to power, just in case. If you have not received and update you can force a check by going to Settings | General | Software Update.

iPad 2

I hope you got up early this morning and went to the local Best Buy or Apple Store to purchase your iPad 2. Currently on Apple.com the estimated ship time is 2-3 weeks on all iPad models. This is one time I suggest not shopping online. RIM might be able to release the BlackBerry Playbook before Apple catches up with demand.
