Gmail Call Recording Rolling Out More Widely
I August, Google launched integration between Gmail and Google Voice, which lets you make and receive calls directly from your microphone-equipped computer. A couple of weeks ago, there were reports that Google had improved on this feature, with the ability to record inbound Google Voice calls directly from Gmail. It looks like it might be rolling out more broadly now. I just check my Gmail, and it isn’t there yet, but I have spoken to a couple of friends who do have it.
I believe that this feature has been available for some time in an undocumented fashion, where you had to hit “4” on your keypad to activate it, but this now makes it available with a single click. Please keep in mind that this is only for inbound call, and there’s a verbal notification given to both parties that the call is being recorded. [click to continue…]
There is part of me that is excited about iOS 4.2 on the iPad and another part that could careless as I really like the rotation lock switch. Regardless Apple is releasing iOS 4.2 today for iPhone(3G, 3GS, 4), iPod Touch( second – fourth generation), and iPad users worldwide. iOS 4.2 brings multitasking, folders, unified inbox, Game Center, Airplay, and AirPrint to the iPad. If you have not updated to the latest version of iTunes do so now before Apple’s download site is overwhelmed with users downloading the update.
Personally, I will hold on the update. 90% of the time my kids use the iPad and there is nothing in this update they would want. [click to continue…]
I am always hunting for a good deal and if you are still using an iPhone 3G or 3GS this 5-Pack LCD Screen Protector is a great deal for $1. I sent this to all my friends that gave their kids their iPhone 3G(s) devices when they upgraded to iPhone 4. It is hard to find a holiday stocking stuffer for $1 so consider this a steal and a good way to prolong upgrading your kid into the iPhone 4.

To say I love to cook is and understatement. It does not matter the meal I love making it. When I am looking for something different to make I always look to foodnetwork and Finecooking. Until recently finecooking was not iPhone friendly. I have subscribed to finecooking magazine since 2002 and have found and used many recipes over they years. Every recipe in the magazines can be found online but may not have the details unless you have an online account. My favorite part is the online site points you to the magazine year, edition, and page number. [click to continue…]
With Maryland being one of the most recent states to pass a hands free driving law, people are scrambling to find a good device. Effective October 1st, 2010 your mobile phone calls must be conducted hands free. This was passed by Governor O’Mally back in May. The actual name is Senate Bill 321. A summary of the law is as follows:
Prohibiting a driver of a motor vehicle that is in motion from using the driver’s hands to use a handheld telephone except to initiate or terminate a wireless call or to turn on or off the handheld phone; providing that a violation of the Act may be enforced only as a secondary violation; establishing penalties of $40 for a first offense and $100 for a second offense; prohibiting a driver of a school vehicle or a holder of an instructional permit or provisional driver’s license from using a handheld phone while driving; etc
Initially you can only receive a violation in conjunction with another moving violation, but that does not remove the need for handsfree equipment. Picking a good handsfree device is not an easy task. There are so many options from bluetooth car kits to wired headsets to bluetooth headsets. Fortunately for you, we have used a wide variety of handsfree devices and have compiled our favorite devices. [click to continue…]
Over the last few years and especially the last few months , the biggest rumor has been about Verizon getting the iPhone. Well finally we can put these rumors to bed. It doesn’t look like Verizon is getting the iPhone any time soon. An article on InformationWeek.com is killing the dreams of so many people.According to the article, Verizon Communications CEO Ivan Seidenberg implied there would not be an iPhone on Verizon’s network anytime in the near future. The article also state tat Seidenberg pretty much ruled out a CDMA version of the iPhone at all. In quoting the Associated Press InformationWeek had this statement

In July of 2009 GV Mobile was pulled from the Apple’s App Store because, “it duplicated functionality that existed on the iPhone.” The removal of GV Mobile happened at the same time Apple rejected the Google Voice app submitted by Google. Apple said they never rejected the app but none the less Google did an end around and provided a right web app that provided mobile access to Google Voice from the iPhone. I was one of the many users of GV Mobile and I am happy to see the app return under the new name GV Mobile +. [click to continue…]

Nike Plus has been a unique feature of the iPhone for sometime now. I know my neighbor is a Nike Plus faithful. The Nike Plus GPS App for the iPhone now uses the built-in GPS vs having the GPS stuck in or strapped to your shoe. This lowers the bar of using the Nike Plus system. Not to mention it makes the process fo tracking your running all in one vs involving a computer. [click to continue…]
