iPhone 4S

Despite “ho hum” initial reviews, the recently announced Apple iPhone 4S  reportedly set sales records on its first day of availability, selling more than 1 million units and expected to sell 4 million units its first weekend. If those projections are reached, iPhone 4S sales will have more than doubled the iPhone 4, which itself broke records at 600,000 pre sales and 1.7 million total phones sold in its first weekend. The iPhone 4S also helped Sprint and AT&T set sales records for cell phone sales in a day.

World of Goo

Finally!  2D Boy, the creators behind the incredible and addicting (incredibly addicting?) physics-based puzzle game World of Goo, announced today that they are releasing a version for Android phones and tablets. The premise is to stretch and connect together goo-balls of varying properties in order to let other goo-balls travel across the structure to the supposed safety of a vacuum tube. Simple, right?  With increasingly larger chasms to span, riddled with spikes and other hazards, be ready to give your brain a workout.

Easily Manage Your Wi-Fi Hotspots With AT&T Smart Wi-Fi for Android

by Tyler on October 4, 2011 · 0 comments

AT&T Logo

It seems like not a day goes by without mobile companies trying to one-up each other about how much faster their mobile networks are than everyone else’s. All of the increased download speeds, however, coupled with high-priced data plans, and lower and lower bandwidth caps, combine to make sure that you’ll run out of data earlier and earlier.  To combat that, many people are forced to supplement their data with available wireless networks.  If you’re unlucky enough to be like me, you may even be required to use a Wi-Fi connection at home, just to be able to make and receive phone calls via a Wi-Fi calling app.

If you are one of the many people who frequently switch between your mobile network and a Wi-Fi hotspot, you know how annoying it can be to remember when you need to be on your data plan, and when you need to switch to a Wi-Fi connection.  If you are on AT&T, then today is your lucky day.  AT&T has released a free app to help you easily manage switching between your data plan and your preferred Wi-Fi hotspots.  It can keep track of how much data you’ve used, and save battery life by remembering when you’re near Wi-Fi hotspots, rather than constantly searching, among other things.  Read past the break for the full press release, including where to download the app for yourself.  Special thanks to Mobility Digest for the screenshots.

Noteshelf Makes Natural Handwriting Easy on the iPad

by Rod on September 28, 2011 · 2 comments

Noteshelf

It is difficult to look at the iPad and not see the potential to take a Bamboo Stylus, launch Noteshelf and take handwritten notes with digital ink. The iPad, unlike the HTC Flyer, lacks an active digitizer which allows you to rest your hand on the tablet as your write, without confusing the application accepting the input. Leave it to clever developers like the makers of Noteshelf to add a palm detection feature in the software which only accepts input above a certain point, thus ignoring your resting palm. Noteshelf is not the only application to adopt the palm detection feature, but it is one of our favorite apps when taking notes on the iPad.
