I am going to guess that you all have picked up on the fact that my iPad finally arrived at the end of last week. In fact, it arrived on the 23rd when Apple had told me to expect it on the 27th, so I was very pleasantly surprised. Just for this purpose (OK, also for the daily barrage of deliveries that I receive) I had purchased an app for my Android phone called Mobile Package Tracker. It was excellent and within a couple of minutes of every time FedEx updated their website, I had an alert on the phone. I was able to track this right down to the delivery. Check it out if you receive a lot of packages. [click to continue…]
Wow! It just keeps getting better and better. Skyfire just released their 2.0 beta this morning. It is available in the Market. If you don’t have Android Market on your phone, go to http://m.skyfire.com on your standard Android browser. You’ll get an option to download directly to your device. Get all the details here.
HP just announced that it will acquire Palm for $1.2 billion or $5.70 per share. Â I have to wonder if HP will push the Palm OS and compete against their business partner Microsoft. Â Considering rival Dell just shocked the smartphone landscape with the Android and Windows Phone 7 devices this will be interesting to see what HP can bring to the game. Â HP has historical knowledge of great PDA’s from the Compaq acquisitions years back and the current Windows Mobile devices they build. Â Their phones have not been a huge success, but I am really excited to see what they can do considering their strong PC sales and ties to the business market.
The Apple Store is down. Â I suspect this is for the long awaited Macbook’s. Â It is about time for my wife to get a laptop refresh. Lets see if this is a serious update or just a minor speed bump. Â Apple Insider had the details check them out. [click to continue…]
This has no technical value but it is funny. Your Motorola Droid can detect a woman’s bra size. They have several other videos but this one is rather funny. Enjoy. And no, I don’t have the app’s QR Code!
If you’ve read more than 2 or 3 posts over on my BlackBerry Blog RIMarkable, you’ve probably gathered that I am a pretty big fan of the BlackBerry. Some would even call me a BlackBerry Fanboy. That being said, I recently bought a Palm Pre Plus from Verizon. I’d be willing to bet, however, that it was for reasons other than what you are thinking. [click to continue…]
I can already see Chris is smiling from ear-to-ear. Â The want this event to be the Courier. Â Maybe it is Zune related since they are pushing out Zune 4.5 and the 64 GB Zune HD soon. Â Maybe it is phone related project Pink or Windows Phone 7. Â Either way it is nice to see Microsoft do something like this. Â I for one will be blued to RSS that day. Â Hope to see something big. Â Maybe this…. Â Lets wait and see
Connectify announced a free upgrade to version 1.2 this week. This upgrade further enhances this no cost software that enables you to turn your Windows 7 PC into a virtual Wi-Fi hotspot and share any kind of connectivity (Wi-FI, Wired, Wireless Broadband) with other authorized users. Yes, you can really be connected via Wi-Fi and create a virtual Wi-Fi Hotspot with just one Wi-Fi adapter. Don’t you just love Windows 7!
Here’s what new in version 1.2:
In addition to numerous bug fixes, new features include:
Improved Ad Hoc Support: By popular demand, Ad Hoc now supports “Open” (no encryption) mode
Connectify Easy Setup Wizard: Connectify gets even easier to start with thanks to our new simple to use wizard walks you through your first setup of your network, and helps explain the process and options.
Improved User Interface: The Connectify window stays visible until you minimize it (so you can keep it up to watch devices connect, if you desire), and there are improved messages and tool tips throughout the program.
More Statistics: The tool tip on the Clients now reveal even more information: how many times the device has connected, the total time that they’ve been connected, and their MAC addresses.
