OLED Screen

It is hard to describe how clear and crisp the screen is on the Zune HD.  I watched many videos on my iPhone but after watching video on the Zune HD’s OLED Screen I would not even considering watching a 2 minute low quality YouTube video on the iPhone. I am not suggesting the iPhone screen is bad. What I am stating as 100% fact is that the Zune screen looks better in all ways. Really, it is not even fair to compare, it would be like comparing a spring shower to a monsoon, Steak and Cheese to Filet Mignon, or 4 yr olds playing soccer to FIFA World Cup. [click to continue…]

Getting Error Downloading with Zune HD from Marketplace?

by Rod on February 10, 2010 · 0 comments

I was having an issue with my Zune HD downloading content from the Market Place. I subscribe to the Zune Pass and when it was connected to my Zune AV Dock I wanted to download a new song. This sounds simple and to any iPhone user they would agree it is as easy as pie. After selecting the song in the Marketplace via my Zune HD I got a download error. I clicked to see the error message and it said, Can’t download due to a network error[click to continue…]

With the Mobile World Congress getting closer the rumors on Windows Phone 7 are heating up. The latest and possibly the biggest comes from ppcgeeks (Pocket PC Geeks). On their site they have posted a list of leaked functionality. There is a disclaimer that the information may not be correct but heck it is still fun to talk about. Some of the features in the list that stand out to me are

Zune HD Gets a Price Cut

Microsoft has dropped the price of the Zune HD.  What makes it better is the price at Amazon has been dropped $10 more then most other sites.  I have the  Zune HD 16GB, and it is a great device (rumor has it that the Windows Phone 7.0 will be based on the Zune interface). I subscribe to the Zune Pass at a cost of $14.99 per month.  For that you get unlimited access to the Zune Content via streaming or download.  More important you get to keep 10 songs per month.   [click to continue…]

How to Convert Movies For Android, Blackberry, and iPhone

Post image for How to Convert Movies For Android, Blackberry, and iPhone

I get asked all the time how do you convert movies so you can watch them on your Zune HD, Blackberry Storm, iPhone, Android or add them to my home media center. I don’t want this blog post to be long winded rather step by step instructions as to how I convert movies. Unlike my buddy Chris I take a two step process in movie conversions. Additionally, I am approaching this from a Mac perspective. Not because I don’t use Windows, but because my Windows machines are busy all day and I have free cycles on my iMac when my kids are in school so I put that thing to work.

Post image for Create Easy Zune HD Playlists

The Zune HD is the best media player out today. From the easy to use interface to the beautiful screen. As a media player it beats the rest hands down. One of the things that everyone does on their media players is create playlists. The iPod was very easy to create them but the Zune HD does not function the same. Anyone that had an iPod, and was used to drag and dropping you media files into a playlist will find that gone when using the Zune HD. So if you are switching, like I did, let me help you.

Watching Movies on a SmartPhone in Flight

This is one of the reasons we have smartphones with big screens, right? But what a bother to have to sit there and hold the angle just right, or keep it from sliding off the tray table if you lay it flat. So, probably just like you, I have searched for a workable method of solving this. Earlier this year, I purchased a contraption made out of plastic that you could fold into a stand for your Smartphone, Touch, etc. It held the screen at a reasonable angle, and as it had a rubberized feel, it didn’t slip too much. Powermat not ready for primetime…….Yet

by Chris on December 23, 2009 · 1 comment

The other day my son came home from college and was asking me if I knew about the new charging thing that was wireless. I laughed and said that thing is the Powermat. I told him that I had looked at it but it is not ready for prime time as far as I am concerned. The reality is, this concept is what we have been dreaming about since we were kids. And looks like the guys over at Powermat were able to make it come true. The Powermat is 99.99 both from Best Buy and Powermat.com. The bottom line is this technology has to be built into devices! Having a need to purchase another device to make this work is not very compelling.

Here is a Review of the Powermat.
