Android 2.2 Update being Pushed to the HTC Droid Incredible

by Rod on September 1, 2010

HTC Incredible

Lucky me I give my wife the HTC Incredible and low and behold she gets the update notification early.  Before going to bed tonight she tells me the phone told her several days ago there was an update available. I always manually updated my phones, but she who could careless about the update is getting it pushed to her phone.  I have to check is RIMarkable Robb is getting the update notification.

If you are a Droid Incredible user you will be happy to know the update is not moving out to mass deployment.  If you have not received the update yet you can manually install or just wait for the notification.  Either way enjoy Froyo.   [click to continue…]

HTC Droid Incredible Android 2.2 Update Begins Today

by Rod on August 27, 2010

Droid Incredible

The Verizon support Twitter account, @VZWSupport, sent out and update the the HTC Incredible would start getting Android 2.2 today (8/27/2010).  This means that the manual update instructions will be coming shortly once the file hits the Google servers.  For those that rooted this is a non event, but for the vast majority of users this update will give the users access to many great new features.  If you cannot wait for the update keep you eye open for the manual install instructions because the staged rollout can take a week or more to hit many handsets.

HTC Windows Phone 7 Device Features Slide Out Speaker

by Chris on August 24, 2010

Post image for HTC Windows Phone 7 Device Features Slide Out Speaker

AT&T’s Windows Phone 7 pimp hand is strong. More pictures have surfaced of another Phone 7 device. This is code named the T8788. I am sure the name will change but we will have to work with this for now. I do like the phone as it reminds me of my precious AT&T Tilt 2. AN interesting feature of this phone is that it has a slide out speaker. It seems to slide the same way a keyboard would. The phone also has a kickstand. Perfect for movie watching. For those of you who don’t have a kickstand check out the Movie Wedge.

by Chris on July 25, 2010

Post image for Leaked HTC Device Running Windows Phone 7

There is not a lot of info yet but Engadget.com has some photo’s of an HTC device running Windows Phone 7. Looking at the shots, the device looks like it is shaped just like the Nexus one. to that point it even has the hard touch sensitive buttons too. I did not notice the hard Camera button that is required but all in all it looks pretty good.

Want a Beautiful AMOLED Screen? Be prepared to Wait!

by Brent on May 27, 2010

Post image for Want a Beautiful AMOLED Screen? Be prepared to Wait!

During a talk at the Barclays Capital conference on Wednesday, Lowell McAdam of Verizon Wireless said that he could sell “twice” the number of the Droid Incredible that he has available. That has to be hard to deal with, and helps explain the relative lack of marketing for this device. During that talk, McAdam was very clear as to the cause: component shortages and more specifically the Samsung-sourced AMOLED display. This screen is VERY popular in the latest devices and will likely remain in short supply for some time yet. Any new phone that is currently in the marketplace or soon to be announced will suffer the same fate, if it is based on the same component.

Post image for HTC Strikes Back at Apple Files Complaint

We were wondering how HTC was going to handle Apples lawsuit and it looks like we just found our answer. On Wednesday HTC decided to take its ongoing patent dispute with Apple to the next level. They asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to block the importation of iPads, iPhones, and iPods from Apple's offshore facilities.

HTC Decides NOT to Bid For Palm

by Chris on April 23, 2010

Post image for HTC Decides NOT to Bid For Palm

Just how bad are Palm’s financials? On may of our podcasts we have speculated that it would be good for HTC to by Palm. Especially since they are being sued by Apple. We are sure that some of the patents that Palm holds would be great to fend off Apple.. However reuters.com is reporting that after HTC looked at the books they decided not to bid for Palm. That killed a lot of dreams. Look at the HD2 and imagine what could have been.

HTC WILL have a Windows Phone 7 Device

by Chris on March 25, 2010

Post image for HTC WILL have a Windows Phone 7 Device

If anyone was wondering if HTC would abandon Microsoft and Windows Phone 7 then let me put your mind at ease. Peter Chou the CEO of HTC said they will have a Windows Phone 7 series device out by the end of this year. A lot of us were wondering if HTC would not want to create a device because of the interface lock down imposed by Microsoft. Most HTC phones have and HTC created interface regardless of the OS running on the phone. Therefore, a user of the ANDROID OS or Windows Phone OS may not know the difference because all the the screen options are exactly the same. But it seems this has not discouraged HTC at all.

How Motorola Pissed me off Today!

by Rod on February 19, 2010

Post image for How Motorola Pissed me off Today!

I bought the Motorola Droid over the Droid Eris because of the newer OS, 2.1 vs 1.6 now the Droid Eris (the device I really wanted) is getting the 2.1 OTA update first. I love my wife but how in the name of everything technical is she going to be running a more advanced operating system than I. Someone in the land of the Tech Gods is playing a bad trick on me. Is it April 1st and I just don't know it? Did Motorola not say they would push the update, then said they made a mistake. I cannot be the only PISSED, Motorola Droid, user at this moment.

I know I can root my phone and I may do so after my flight today. If I don't see 2.1 next week, I will NEVER BY A MOTOROLA DEVICE AGAIN. I second guessed myself and knew I should have gone with the Eris. WHY OH WHY DID I SECOND GUESS. DAMN YOU MOTOROLA!!!

Loudtalks makes great use of your Push to Talk Button

by Chris on February 3, 2010

Loudtalks main 1

A few weeks ago I wrote an article about reassigning the push to talk button (ptt) on your Phone.  I used my button as a Home Screen button, but you can really choose what ever app you want. After I published the article I received a response with a very candid idea. Use the ptt for what it was meant for. But the whole reason why I don’t use it today is I have to pay for it. Loudtalks Lite lets you use it for free…
