If you are like me your list of contacts has universal functionality. The primary purpose is for email and phone calls, but you also have things like mailing holiday cards and birthday invites. In all your contact list has names, addresses, phone numbers, social network information, instant message information, birthday, anniversary, and many other useful details. It is no wonder Chris and I have had a debate over the last 5 years around the best way to deal with having multiple contacts that all share a single phone number, like husband and wife or parent and child. Before I explain our theories let me outline a potential issue this can cause. [click to continue…]

If there was any question if LG’s Windows Phone 7 device was headed to AT&T I think it is just about done. Engadget.com has a screen shot of the FCC documentation showing the Frequencies usually associated with AT&T. This version of Windows Phone 7 will have the slide out keyboard. If you are a bit geekier than me you can check out the rest of the FCC information for yourself.

Anyone who works around software knows they fuzzy feeling that I have right now. Even though I don’t work for Microsoft I feel like my own product is done. Today Microsoft announced that Windows Phone 7 is Code Complete and is being released to manufactures. This means we are one step closer to shipping a phone to all of us waiting patiently.

So far we have seen great videos from pocketnow.com. They have demoed for us making calls, email usage, browser usage and now text messaging. I am sure for most people text messaging is an important feature. I have never really seen a bad text messaging experience but now everyone wants conversations. Most people want to see the whole conversation when looking at texts. Apple added this feature and now it’s a must.

I was certainly wondering what the calling experience was like on Windows Phone 7. And if you are interested in this phone then I am sure you have been too. Pocketnow.com has posted another demo video showing off this experience. Windows Phone 7 definitely is pretty elegant with the dialing features. And the in call functions are pretty good too. There is a nice overlay that allows you to access call functions such as speaker phone or the mute button. On that same overlay is another button that allows you to bring up the dialer. Of course if you are on AT&T you can check your email while you are talking.

India's Ministry of Home affairs has said, RIM have made certain proposals for lawful access by law enforcement agencies and these would be operationalized immediately, and that the feasibility of the solutions offered would be assessed thereafter. There are no details currently and the government will re0evaluate after 60 days. It is possible we will hear this topic again more likely around Google and Skype as India wants them to setup servers in their country.

There have been a lot of videos and write-ups about Windows Phone 7. And for all that I have seen and read, I am really enjoying the videos done by pocketnow.com This is the second comparison video I have seen from them and I have to say very good job. The biggest thing that I noted is that based on basic usage all things are pretty even between the three phones. Now of course anyone doing corporate email on Android should be using Touchdown but this demo was based on built in capabilities. The thing that I found surprising is that There wasn’t really any feature of the iPhone that I liked over Android and Windows Phone 7. In fact the opposite was true. Both Windows Phone 7 and Android have features that make email a bit easier to use. [click to continue…]

Mili PowerSpring 4 provides extended or double battery life for iPhone 4 users. Considering I just returned my iPhone 4 today I guess I need to order one of these for an iPhone friend to give it a test. My father-in-law uses the MiLi Powerskin on his iPhone 3GS and that has saved him during several power outages. The form factor of the iPhone is perfect for these battery cases and there are numerous options but the Mili and Mophie Juice Pack stand out as the best. The MiLi is available on Amazon for $85. The MiLi is a 1600mAH Li-Pol battery and super thin. If your iPhone is often sitting in the red zone for battery life consider the MiLi. [click to continue…]
