If I wanted to compare the Droid Bionic to a vehicle, I would need to think about a Smartphone that sucks down battery power faster than a locomotive can consume fuel. When I am using the phone a moderate amount, the battery can drain in 3 hours 30 minutes. That is roughly 525 mAH/per hour, considering the battery is only 1735 mAH, this is terrible. Now, mind you, I am using the phone as it comes from the carrier without any of my special tweeks to extend battery life. Over the first couple days, the battery life has been so bad that it actually takes significantly longer to charge the battery than discharge. See the chart above about, 5 hours to charge, 3 hrs 30 minutes to drain the battery.

At 9:01 am Thursday morning, I pushed into my local Verizon Wireless store, third in line, and stepped up to the counter to purchase the Motorola Droid Bionic that I had called and reserved the day before. It is always nice when a plan comes together. I was onsite with a customer all day on Wednesday, and Rod called me at 4:30 pm and put the fear into me, supposing that I was already too late to get my unit without having to order online. I called my guy at Verizon and he assured me that he had one tucked under the counter for me, as long as I was there at 9 am. Let me just say I got my device over 24 hrs before Rod. So, the question everyone is asking me today is this: “Was it worth the wait?”

Any fan of Simple Mobile Review knows we love portable speakers and is seems Scosche Industries boomCAN may be the best one we have ever used for under $25. The boomCAN is a beautiful looking portable speaker that works with any device that has a 3.5mm audio output jack. It also features a three position power/volume switch to control the speaker. When I plugged in the Scosche boomCAN into my Samsung Focus, I was greeted with big well-rounded sound that filled the room quite well. I even turned up my TV to create extra noise however; it could not defeat the speaker. If you listen to Episode 81 of the SMRPodcast at 57min 20sec you will here Rod describe the experience of hearing the Scosche boomCAN.

HeyTell is an Android and iOS voice messaging app that lets you send and receive voice messages with friends and family. The app is a hybrid between a voicemail service and a walkie-talkie application. A message sent via HeyTell is delivered almost instantly. The best thing is, you can send and receive messages over WiFi or a mobile data network.
Rather than speech-to-text, HeyTell records what you say and sends it to other users registered on the HeyTell network. HeyTell uses your contact list and lets you send messages or invite friends to join the HeyTell network. Simply select a contact, then press the Hold and Speak button and say your message. Once you release the button your message is sent.

There is only one way to describe Wrapsol iPad Film Protector: The Wrapsol is simple to install and is an effective way to protect your iPad from scratches. Shockingly, I was initially skeptical of the Wrapsol iPad film protector, as I have always used the Zagg InvisibleShield. While I am sure there may be technical differences in the actual material, for the customer the difference is in how you apply the film. Regardless of the method, Wrapsol is a worthy solution for protecting your iPad.

Microsoft has confirmed the a front facing camera and Skype will be coming to Windows Phone. Skype provides end-to-end encryption of messages like BlackBerry BBM, which gives Microsoft a BBM like replacement that has hundreds of millions of active users. Where Skype is better than BBM is it is cross platform and lives on the desktop.
It is shocking such and announcement came from TechEd New Zealand from two employees that are not Brandon Watson or Joe Belfiore. The news itself is not shocking given, it was a given evolution. Video after break.
