Should Two Contacts Share One Phone Number in your Contact List

by Rod on September 9, 2010

Contacts

If you are like me your list of contacts has universal functionality. The primary purpose is for email and phone calls, but you also have things like mailing holiday cards and birthday invites.  In all your contact list has names, addresses, phone numbers, social network information, instant message information, birthday, anniversary, and many other useful details. It is no wonder Chris and I have had a debate over the last 5 years around the best way to deal with having multiple contacts that all share a single phone number, like husband and wife or parent and child.  Before I explain our theories let me outline a potential issue this can cause. How to Convert DVDs For The iPad

by Chris on September 3, 2010

I have written a few guides on converting movies before and since there are new gadgets out there I need to to it again. I am telling you now, if you want to convert movies you must use DVDFab. It is hands down the best DVD Converting software out there. DVDFab is great because they have all kinds of different flavors. There is an option just to backup DVD’s to your hard drive or convert DVD’s to a mobile format, which is what we will use for the iPad. The version we are using is DVDFab DVD Ripper (DVD to Mobile)..

iOS 4 on the iPhone has Improved Call History

by Rod on September 2, 2010

BlackBerry Activity Log

One of my favorite features of the BlackBerry has been the activity log. It provides you a view into what you have done with each of your contacts over time. For example you can see call history, SMS/MMS history, email communication, and other types of communication that register with the activity log, like Google Talk. The iPhone and Android both have lacked this historical communication view available only on the BlackBerry. Granted, the BlackBerry has been designed for business users who desire features like this, but I was excited to see Apple added this functionality into iOS 4. [click to continue…]

How to Subscribe to Podcasts on the BlackBerry for Free

by Rod on September 2, 2010

BlackBerry Podcast

Research in Motion (RIM) released a free podcasting application called BlackBerry Podcast on August 11. The most common question when you say podcast is, "What is a Podcast?" Take a moment to review our article about what a podcast is if you need a quick overview. For me, the majority of podcasts I subscribe to are not found via browsing a catalog of podcasts, but rather via word of mouth or when listening to an existing podcast I subscribe to. Audible for Android Officially Available in Market

by Brent on September 2, 2010

Audible

Beta testing of Audible for Android is all completed and in fact, I think that the version in the Market is actually 1.01. This app now supports both the Enhanced Format (28.4 MB/hour of audio) and Type 4 (14 MB/hour of audio). These can be downloaded via Wi-Fi or 3G directly to your device. You can also side-load by copying your already downloaded Audible books to the SD Card when connected to your computer. Additionally, you can stream any of the books if perchance you don’t have storage room to hold them locally. As always, Audible remembers where you were, even if you listen to something else and then come back. [click to continue…]

BlackBerry Clamshell has been Named BlackBerry Style 9670

by Rod on September 1, 2010

BlackBerry Style 9670

I have but one word to describe the image above, irony. There is no way in hell RIM can believe calling the phone Style will some how cast a reality distortion field on everyone to believe this is anything other than UGLY. I was actually crying when I wrote this post, it takes a lot of laughing to produce tears people.

Irony - the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning.

This is the heart of the problem with RIM, they are failing to hear the market.  Apple today blew so many away with design and RIM delivers "style".  Who is this Stylish to?  Please someone tell me. Either this is a executive decision or someone needs to be shown the door. Style my @$$. This is the worlds biggest momma joke.  Oh this will be running BlackBerry 6 so there is something good.

Rydeen gPad 7-INCH Android Tablet Coming November

by Rod on September 1, 2010

Rydeen GPad

It is almost like every on and their brother waited for this week to announce their up and coming devices.  It is almost like Apple has something planned this week and they want to make the hype cycle as short as possible. Rydeen gPad is a 7-inch resistive touchscreen tablet with 800x480 resolution, Marvell ARMADA 166-800MHz processor, Bluetooth, and GPS running some version of Android.

I played with a resistive touch screen recently and let me say that device found its way back to the store after several minutes of frustration and having to go back to using a stylus.  The device does have a front facing 2 megapixel camera for video chat.  Pricing on this will be key but I would rather pay more money and get a device with great performance. Android 2.2 Update being Pushed to the HTC Droid Incredible

by Rod on September 1, 2010

HTC Incredible

Lucky me I give my wife the HTC Incredible and low and behold she gets the update notification early.  Before going to bed tonight she tells me the phone told her several days ago there was an update available. I always manually updated my phones, but she who could careless about the update is getting it pushed to her phone.  I have to check is RIMarkable Robb is getting the update notification.

If you are a Droid Incredible user you will be happy to know the update is not moving out to mass deployment.  If you have not received the update yet you can manually install or just wait for the notification.  Either way enjoy Froyo.   [click to continue…]
