March of Android

In their latest study of the Worldwide Mobile OS environment, Gartner is suggesting that Android is in fact accelerating faster than predicted and slated to reach the Number 2 position worldwide, ahead of RIM and Apple, in 2010, rather than 2011 as previously predicted. Further, they are predicting that Android will be poised to surpass Symbian by 2014 as the number one Mobile OS worldwide. [click to continue…]

RIM Purchases DataViz for Documents to GO

Post image for RIM Purchases DataViz for Documents to GO

I saw the news come through but wasn’t sure why it was important. It was announced that Research in Motion Purchased DataViz, makers of the popular Documents to GO software. This app allowed BlackBerry users to open and edit Microsoft Office documents. However the more I think about it the more it makes sense. BlackBerry must know that eventually Microsoft will shore up the business side of Phone 7. And with the consumer feature shaping up well, it would be east to move into the corporate side, or BlackBerry’s bread and butter. So to combat this they must be thinking about keeping up solid parity with Phone 7. And with all the demos Microsoft has had showing off the new Office Mobile it now makes sense for BlackBerry to protect their flank.

Blackberry Style Tutorial Videos

by Chris on September 7, 2010 · 0 comments

by Chris on September 7, 2010 · 0 comments

Well if there was any question that the clamshell BlackBerry dubbed the Style could not be a real phone they are now put to bed. The biggest momma joke now has tutorial videos to show you how to use the non touchscreen phone. According to crackberry.com RIM put’s out these videos for retailers. We can’t say it enough this phone looks terrible. For some reason RIM went the distance with this release. It really wouldn’t matter if the RIM sold millions of these phones that would just mean there were a lot of people with an ugly phone.

iOS 4 on the iPhone has Improved Call History

BlackBerry Activity Log

One of my favorite features of the BlackBerry has been the activity log. It provides you a view into what you have done with each of your contacts over time. For example you can see call history, SMS/MMS history, email communication, and other types of communication that register with the activity log, like Google Talk. The iPhone and Android both have lacked this historical communication view available only on the BlackBerry. Granted, the BlackBerry has been designed for business users who desire features like this, but I was excited to see Apple added this functionality into iOS 4. [click to continue…]

BlackBerry Clamshell has been Named BlackBerry Style 9670

BlackBerry Style 9670

I have but one word to describe the image above, irony. There is no way in hell RIM can believe calling the phone Style will some how cast a reality distortion field on everyone to believe this is anything other than UGLY. I was actually crying when I wrote this post, it takes a lot of laughing to produce tears people.

Irony – the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning.

This is the heart of the problem with RIM, they are failing to hear the market.  Apple today blew so many away with design and RIM delivers “style”.  Who is this Stylish to?  Please someone tell me. Either this is a executive decision or someone needs to be shown the door. Style my @$$. This is the worlds biggest momma joke.  Oh this will be running BlackBerry 6 so there is something good.

Trillian for BlackBerry is Available in App World for $4.99

Trillian for BlackBerry

Trillian for BlackBerry is available in BlackBerry App World for $4.99.  Trillian on the desktop has  been a favorite for many that use multiple IM products through out the day.  Trillian allows you to connect to Windows Live Messenger, Facebook Chat, Yahoo, AIM/ICQ, Google Talk, MySpace, Astra or Jabber.  It provides and all in one IM client for those that want a consolidated window for IM.  I have never been a Trillian fan on the desktop but on a mobile device where resources are limited this is a good alternative to running multiple IM clients.  I wonder if BB users will need this of if they just result to BBM, SMS, and Email when mobile. DirecTV’s Superfan Mobile App Keeps Me Loyal

NFL Superfan

The thing that has always kept me a loyal DirecTV customer has been the NFL Sunday Ticket. This in part because of the DirecTV Superfan Mobile App.  I have owned a lot of mobile devices in recent years like the iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android. I know Chris used the app on Windows Phone. The NFL Superfan app has been a way for me to watch almost any game when mobile.  I have even streamed NFL games when sitting with customers for dinner in Europe, I admit the phone was under the table. Ok, maybe not, but it was a good conversation piece. [click to continue…]
