The feel of the brushed stainless steel bezel, balance of the device and elegant curves and design makes the BlackBerry Bold 9930 a device to envy. Beyond the luxurious design you quickly notice the 1.2 GHz processor dramatically improves the cold boot time from 3-5 minutes down to 1 min 26 sec. The Bold 9930 has the security and efficiency we have come to expect form RIM with a newfound design. I was lucky enough to get a review unit earlier this week of the Verizon BlackBerry Bold 9930 and I have been kicking the tires to summarize my thoughts.

I cannot be the only user of the newly launched BlackBerry Bold 9930 running BlackBerry 7 that frequently sees the Browser crash. I did not doing any thing crazy to produce the crash but here is what I did.
- I logged into Google Plus
- I switched from basic mobile to desktop mode. (I wanted to see how the page rendered and would redraw. I did the same test on Windows Phone 7 Mango without issue.)
- When I zoomed in on the page to see how it handled image and text scaling I got white and gray box as if the page would not load.
- After a bit of time the buttons on the phone are not responsive which leads to the browser crash.

When RIMarkable Robb took the a picture of the BlackBerry store on monday the sales person had several boxed he was working through it could have been the new BlackBerry Torch 9810 and the BlackBerry Torch 9850/9860. RIM has officially announced three new BlackBerry devices running BlackBerry 7 OS. Availability and pricing should be coming over this month as carriers start launching the devices.

It was bound to happen… So many BlackBerry users have stated that would never leave the BlackBerry because of BlackBerry Messenger that you knew it was only a matter of time before Apple came out with their own proprietary, iOS only, instant messaging application. Today at WWDC Apple introduced iMessage which will be available to all iOS 5 or later devices.

Images of a new, unofficially announced BlackBerry device, the touch BlackBerry Bold 9790, have been leaked. Not only is the Bold 9790 unannounced, this is the first time we’ve ever heard of the device as it hasn’t shown up on any 2011 BlackBerry roadmaps that we’ve seen.
The BlackBerry Bold 9790 is said to be similar to the Bold 9780, albeit a bit thinner, has a touch screen, and runs BlackBerry 7. We aren’t sure, however, if the 9790 is actually a device that RIM plans to release, or, just a prototype the company has being toying around with.

In a maneuver, that is both surprising and brilliant RIM announces that they will be creating a Multi-platform BlackBerry Enterprise solution to manage mobile devices. One of the biggest corporate advantages RIM has is there complete ability to secure their BlackBerry devices. Administrators really have tight control on what BlackBerry users can do. RIM expanding their solution to support Android and iOS devices is a good move and one that show they understand the market shift that is happening around them. The new software will be Web based and provide administrators the ability to:
- distribute software
- manage policies
- inventory
- manage the, security and services
I know Microsoft recently announced that they will be supporting Android and iOS Devices with Active Sync Policies and manage them through System Center Configuration Manager 2012. We can see success going to the company that has the deepest and most secure management platform.

The BlackBerry Bold Touch was officially announced today at BlackBerry World. The device is powered by a 1.2 GHz processor with a 2.8 inch capacitive screen and has the legendary BlackBerry Keyboard. The device won’t be available until June or July and given what RIM has said in the past it is unlikely this will be capable of running the next generation of BlackBerry OS (QNX) when it is released for BlackBerry Smartphones.

It was not until BlackBerry 6 that browsing the web on a BlackBerry was tolerable, however that does not mean you should not stay on top of normal browser maintenance. Clearing browser history, cache, and cookies improves browser performance and makes tracking you across the web more difficult. Despite the BlackBerry OS being amazing for typing I still recommend saving any frequently visited sites as a bookmark.

It looks like all the big gadget blogs and tech media sites have been playing around with a pre-released BlackBerry PlayBook for the past week or so as dozens of them put up reviews of the RIM’s first stab at a tablet computing device yesterday evening. We can’t wait to get our hands on the device next Tuesday when the BlackBerry PlayBook officially launches, and, we will most certainly do a review once we get the final released version of the device.
We’ve linked to our BlackBerry PlayBook review roundup of the 12 sites that we took a look at last night after the jump…

Update: This story was a hoax… RIM has said none of this is true
There have been a lot of rumors floating around that Research in Motion is taking BlackBerry Messenger cross platform. The latest one came yesterday at a Toronto Social Media conference where Research in Motion co-CEO, Jim Balsillie, revealed that the company plans to bring BlackBerry Messenger for iPhone and other services to the App Store on April 26th.
“RIM had a Social Media conference today in Toronto, and my entire college business and marketing class was invited to the event. RIM’s co-ceo Jim Balsillie revealed that they plan to bring BBM and “other services” to iPhone on April 26 via the app store. Major news networks are expected to pick up on this very soon! Balsillie also revealed that they plan to release an update to the app this summer which will take advantage of a new “notification system”!!!”
