Rogers in Canada is now offering an update for Blackberry Bold 9700 Users via OTA. To check for updates from your Blackberry do the following: Options | Advanced Options | Wireless Updates.

In the future the update will be available for download and manual install. At that time you can update via Blackberry Desktop Manager.

Skyfire Browser Dumps BlackBerry For Android

Talk about kicking a platform when it is down. Skyfire announced they have halted development of their browser on the Blackberry Platform in favor of Android. The growth of the Android platform has out paced Blackberry and iPhone in recent months. That is not saying much considering market share. A 100% growth in market share is easier when going from 1% market share to 2% market share. Considering how bad the Blackberry browser is this is a decent blow. Here is what Skyfire said on their blog. To summarize development on the platform sucks and takes too long.

Favorite Contacts or Blackberry Call Log Same Difference

Blackberry Curve 8500

The favorite contact feature is one feature lacking on the Blackberry but if you use the call log and/or activity log like I do favorites do not matter. The call log on the Blackberry give you quick access to the people you are recently calling with. In contrast the activity log can show all call, email, sms, and mms activity with an individual contact. The combination of these two features really makes up for what is perceived to be missing. If your Blackberry OTA is not showing the latest update on your Storm 2 manually download.  To check for OTA updates go to Options | Advanced Options  | Wireless Update.  If your running a leaked Storm 2 version the OTA will not show up and you need to do the manual install (see link below).  Manual installs are performed via Blackberry Desktop Manager.
