As an OnStar Subscriber I am happy to see them get new features. On the Chevy Volt, GM and OnStar created a cool app for Android, Blackberry, and the iPhone. When the Volt is connected you can monitor the charging status and even program it to delay charging, You can check driving statistics, honk the horn, lock or unlock the car, and start it up, all from your mobile phone. There is actually a demo video of this.

Finally, a decent look at the BlackBerry Slider in action.  Video beats the heck out of blurry images.  Then again 14 seconds and this video won’t help you make a purchase decision, but it may prevent tech junkies from running to Android or iPhone.

Something I Like About RIM’s Revamped Conference Call Screen

by Rod on May 6, 2010 · 0 comments

Blackberry Conference Call Screen

The only feature on this conference calling screen that I have desired on every phone I have ever had is the option to split call. Start chat or the ability to see thumbnail images of all your contacts are great options but I really want the ability to split a conference call apart.  Beyond that the other huge feature would be End Participant.  Often after a call I specifically call one of the two people back so I can be sure the line is clear.  One challenge is many phones continue to show conference call vs reverting back to showing a call with an individual user once one party drops from the conference call.  Either way these changes are all good to me.

It looks like BlackBerry users, who use Gmail, are getting a tighter intergration. CrackBerry.com is reporting that the two way sync between Gmail and BIS servers are live. Looking at some of the comments though it would seem that this is a phased rollout. Not every users has the service yet.
