AT&T will launch the Samsung Infuse a 4.5 inch Android 2.2 powered smartphone. Despite it massive foot print the Infuse is amazingly thin. The device will cost $199.99 with a 2 year contract. As for hardware it has a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED display, 1.2 GHz processor, 8 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front camera, and 4G connectivity.

ViewSonic has released many different tablets over the last few months however the one that catches the most attention is the dual boot ViewPad 10 which runs both Windows 7 and Android 1.6. ViewSonic has released an update to the VIewPad 10 which will upgrade Android 1.6 to Android 2.2.

Just as we thought Samsung Fascinate users were stuck on Android 2.1, Verizon updates the devices to Froyo (Android 2.2). I would not hold out hopes on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) any time soon or future versions. The good news is this update is packed with numerous goodies. HTC just released a recovery image of Android Gingerbread 2.3 for the Nexus One on it’s development site. It is labeled as GRI40 in case you need to find it. This is a very positive step because this is primarily a developer phone. If you have been testing custom ROM images and decide that you want to restore to a default image, previously you had to restore back to Android 2.2 and then upgrade to Android 2.3 after that. This allows you to restore directly to the latest version available.

T-Mobile will have an exclusive on the HTC Sensation 4G. The HTC Sensation has a 4.3-inch (540 x 960) Super LCD screen, dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, and Android Gingerbread (2.3) with Sense 3.0. The rear camera is 8 megapixels with 1080p resolution which is another sign of replacing traditional point and shoot camera’s. While the Sensation is a 4G device keep in mind it is HSPA+ and will not have the same speed as Verizon’s LTE.
