A few days ago, I started thinking about how I could better support my effort at good health. Of course, I love apps! And the one device that I always have with me is my Droid X. So, I started looked for good, really useful ways to use my Droid X in that direction. I have to say that I am fairly amazed at what I was able to find, and how useful I believe they are (or can be, as the situation may warrant). Of course, these work for me. What you need may be completely different. However, let me show you the scope of what I discovered. [click to continue…]
On a regular basis, Rod forwards to me products and ideas that we might both find interesting. A few weeks ago, he showed me a just-announced product from Kensington for the iPad and asked if I might like to give it a whirl. I use my iPad a LOT on the airplane, and since my travel and work schedule often requires very late nights followed by very early mornings, I was often finding myself low on battery power for the iPad. Normally, that’s OK too, because I always carry my Kindle. But, if I had been working through my monthly magazine subscriptions using Zinio, it was frustrating to have to switch gears due to battery life. Now, don’t get me wrong. Battery life on the iPad is spectacular. Because it is so good, I hardly every worry about it, which is exactly what gets me in trouble. [click to continue…]
With Maryland being one of the most recent states to pass a hands free driving law, people are scrambling to find a good device. Effective October 1st, 2010 your mobile phone calls must be conducted hands free. This was passed by Governor O’Mally back in May. The actual name is Senate Bill 321. A summary of the law is as follows:
Prohibiting a driver of a motor vehicle that is in motion from using the driver’s hands to use a handheld telephone except to initiate or terminate a wireless call or to turn on or off the handheld phone; providing that a violation of the Act may be enforced only as a secondary violation; establishing penalties of $40 for a first offense and $100 for a second offense; prohibiting a driver of a school vehicle or a holder of an instructional permit or provisional driver’s license from using a handheld phone while driving; etc
Initially you can only receive a violation in conjunction with another moving violation, but that does not remove the need for handsfree equipment. Picking a good handsfree device is not an easy task. There are so many options from bluetooth car kits to wired headsets to bluetooth headsets. Fortunately for you, we have used a wide variety of handsfree devices and have compiled our favorite devices. [click to continue…]
Last night my cousin came over and we got to talking phones. I completely forgot that he had the Motorola DROID so I immediately grabbed his phone from him. The very first thing that I noticed was the Body Glove case he was using. It had a nice feel to it and it fit the phone very well. Since the Motorola DROID has a slide out keyboard it is a two piece cover. Now if your like me you have a big stomach and don’t like wearing phones with belt clips. After seeing the unique clip on the Body Glove I may have to rethink my feelings.

Imagine if you could build your own laptop. That is how I feel sometimes when I think about iPad accessories if you keep adding things you will have a great netbook. KeyCase iPad Folio is and iPad case with a built in keyboard. The KeyCase iPad Folio has been FCC approval but should be handy to all those iPad users that really want to have a keyboard available when using. How can you argue, with a Bluetooth keyboard built-in the case it really makes the iPad functional as a data entry device. When I have used my Freedom Pro Bluetooth Keyboard with my iPad my productivity increases 10x. There is no word when the case will release but is is for sale at GearZap in the UK for £59.95 (about $92) although is is currently out of stock. I personally will wait until it is on my trusted retailer, Amazon.

One of my very most favorite pieces of technology has been made even better. PogoPlug has reduced the price of the current Pogoplug from $129 to $99, and announced the PogoPlug Wireless Adapter which will work on 802.11 b/g/n networks and remove the requirement to have a wired connection for the PogoPlug to operate. The Wireless Adapter is available for pre-order now for $29. [click to continue…]
As some of you might know, those of us at SimpleMobileReview travel, sometimes a LOT. I personally was a Boy Scout (Eagle Rank) and I really believe in being prepared to smoothly deal with just about anything. Just pick up my Roller Computer bag and my Carry-On Back Pack and you will see what I mean. However, my wife recently request a ‘small and modest’ kit that could take care of her iPod Touch, Blackberry Tour, Sony Reader and other small electronics and could fit in her purse or in a small carry on bag. No problem. Take a look at what I chose. [click to continue…]
Something I am always shocked to hear asked is “how do I add a password to my mobile phone”. If you have ever lost a mobile phone you probably only realized the value of using a passcode once the device has been misplaced. For me there are a couple things I always have setup initially on my phones and that is passcode setup and remote wipe.

One of the more popular Bluetooth headsets out there are made by BlueAnt. BlueAnt is claiming that this headset is almost like having the person next to you. The new BlueAnt will announce the name of the caller. The Q2 can also read out SMS and emails from an Android phone running 2.0 or later. The new headset also features a Text-To-Speech engine that will read out weather, news, sports, traffic updates and Microsoft’s Bing 411. Looks like the headset will be priced at $129.99

Ever since Bluetooth became popular I always wanted a speaker phone for my Truck. It just was never enough priority because I always had a headset. Having a speaker phone became less of a priority when I got my Avalanche. I have the phone feature activated with my OnStar subscription. Last week I finally decided to try out a Bluetooth speakerphone and I am so glad that I did. The Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth Speakerphone works flawlessly.
