I love my Nook Reader, but the first time I load the Nook for Android app, I had to uninstall after I discovered that it had consumed 17 GB of memory on my device. This latest update has resolved that by allowing it to be moved to SD after installation, providing you are sporting Android 2.2 (Froyo) on your device. Of course, you can access your entire library on your device and it now allows you to also side-load ePub book from your PC to your phone and it will find them anywhere on your device, so if you are using another Android reader like Aldiko, you don’t have to load the book twice, each to their own ‘library’ folder. I wish the rest of eBook readers would realize how important that is. The app now also lets you flick your finger to turn pages and like all Nook readers, it allows you to loan out your ebooks on a temporary basis (as long as the publisher has agreed; some don’t).
Nook for Android also has four new themes with different reading modes, a standard among eReader apps. There’s now Day, Night, Sepia, and Butter themes that are each designed to provide different lighting and color settings. Users can further change the reading experience by changing the margins and brightness settings.
