I have always trusted all my online shopping to Amazon and yesterday Barnes and Noble reaffirmed my belief. Why buy on Barnes & Noble what you can get on Amazon? Yesterday at 7AM I ordered the HP TouchPad 16 GB on B&N. The device showed as in stock until about 11 or 12 ET. Somehow B & N inventory system showed and item as available for several hours after they had nothing instock. I understand this challenge on iPad or iPhone launch day where and order placed during the rush may get slowed down due to overwhelming demand. People we are talking about the HP TouchPad.
Now to their credit they did notify quickly however I got my email at 9PM, a mere 14 hours after ordering. If I would have known earlier I would have started looking else where. It is shocking a company the size of Barnes and Noble could have an issue where their inventory system allowed them to sell for several hours something they did not have. Shocking! I am wishing I did not loan out my BlackBerry Playbook in anticipation of getting the TouchPad.
